Canadian Women Working in Music releases an annual report card scoring festivals on the gender parity and gender representation in their lineups.

We call for Canadian festivals to ensure that 50% of all bands/artists in their lineups be either led by women-identifying, transgender,  or non-gender-binary people.  

For the purposes of this research, CWWIM defined "Women fronted" "Transgender-fronted,"or "Gender-non-binary fronted" bands as any band appearing at a festival which was:  
* a solo woman-identifying, transgender, or non-gender-binary performer  
* a duo or trio with at least one woman-identifying, transgender, or non-gender-binary performer
* a larger group in which a woman-identifying,  transgender and/or non-binary person, several women-identifying, transgendered and/or non-binary people,  played a significant role (more than a backup singer or side player - much love to backup and side players, though!)
* an orchestra or ensemble with either a lead musician or soloist who is woman-identifying, transgender, or gender-non-binary, or is made up of 50% or more women-identifying, transgender, or gender-non-binary

If it was clear a band did not meet these criteria, it was classed as "man-identifying"; if it was impossible to determine, it was classed "unknown"

We also advocate for greater representation of Racialized and Indigenous artists on festival stages.
We recognize that some festivals don't like being scored, and we get it; however, we dislike sexism more than we dislike making people uncomfortable, so we press on.

Nous demandons aux festivals canadiens de veiller à ce que 50% de tous les groupes / artistes de leurs groupes soient dirigés par des femmes identificatrices, transgenres ou non bisexuelles.

Dans le cadre de cette recherche, CWWIM a défini les groupes «Fronted Face» ou «Gender-non-binary fronted» comme étant des groupes apparaissant lors d'un festival qui était:
* une femme soliste, identifiée, transgenre ou non-binaire
* un duo ou un trio avec au moins une femme identifiante, transgenre ou non-binaire
* un groupe plus large dans lequel une femme identifiante, transgressée et / ou non binaire, plusieurs femmes identificatrices, transgenres et / ou non binaires, ont joué un rôle important (plus qu'un chanteur de secours ou un joueur latéral - beaucoup d'amour pour sauvegarde et les joueurs latéraux, cependant!)
* un orchestre ou un ensemble avec un musicien principal ou un soliste qui est une femme ou un non-bisexuel, ou qui est composé de 50% ou plus de femmes identifiées ou non-binaires

S'il était clair qu'une bande ne répondait pas à ces critères, elle a été classée comme «identification de l'homme»; s'il était impossible de le déterminer, il était classé "inconnu"

Remarques:
Nos excuses si ces termes sont maladroits - nous accueillons les suggestions!
Nous plaidons également pour une plus grande représentation des artistes racialisés et autochtones sur les scènes du festival.
Nous reconnaissons que certains festivals n'aiment pas être notés, et nous l'obtenons; Cependant, nous n'aimons pas le sexisme plus que nous n'aimons pas rendre les gens mal à l'aise, alors nous continuons.
