Gender Equity at JCU: interactions
You are invited to submit a testimonial to contribute to a research project that aims to identify the culture, policies and practices that inhibit or enable recruitment, retention and career progression for women at JCU. The study is being conducted by Dr Ines Zuchowski, Dr Ryl Harrison, Dr Theresa Petray and Dr Bunmi Abdul-Malau at James Cook University.

De-identified and generalised responses will be used to inform the development of gender equity policies and strategies at JCU, and to contribute to JCU’s application for a Bronze Institutional Award with SAGE Athena SWAN (more information available at http://www.sciencegenderequity.org.au/science-in-australia-gender-equity-sage-pilot-2015).  The SAGE Athena SWAN initiative is focused on the STEMM disciplines, however, at JCU this research is encompassing all disciplines as the patterns of inequity are similar across the university.  Some findings from the research may be shared with all staff and published on a JCU gender equity webpage, however, this will report on generalised experiences only and any identifying information will be omitted.

Your testimonial will be confidential. We will ask you some demographic questions so that we may group data analysis themes by gender, length of employment and college. Any identifying information will be removed from your testimonial by the Research Co-ordinator - Elise Howard - prior to any data analysis by the research team.

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary and you can stop taking part in the study at any time without explanation or prejudice.

Your contribution to this research is greatly valued.  Thank you.
