November 14 - 16, 2018
Newport Beach, CA

All proposal submissions MUST be submitted through the online proposal system by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept 1, 2018, in order to be considered for the Fall 2018 STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice Convening. Notifications regarding your proposal status will be sent by September 17, 2018.

Thank you for contributing your time and knowledge to craft this proposal!

The bi-annual STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice (SLECoP) Convenings are events for the SLECoP community to network, share best practices, and brainstorm solutions to common challenges. E2E (Ecosystem to Ecosystem) sessions are your opportunity to bring forward topics of interest and share your expertise. Surveys from past SLECoP convenings indicate that attendees prefer sessions that:

 * Focus on strategies for overcoming challenges - failures often offer valuable insights!
 * Showcase different models to approach one area of work (e.g., overviews of effective evaluation tools or approaches to shared measurement, etc.)
 * Focus on techniques to cultivate effective partnerships (e.g., engaging industry, fundraising models for sustainability, or facilitating partner collaborations, etc.)
 * Highlight strategies to grow and sustain STEM Learning Ecosystems (e.g., managing steering committees; effective organizational features; writing collaborative grants, etc.)
*  Review successful programs that are able to be replicated in other regions

TIPS
COLLABORATION
Preference will be given to sessions that include members of different Ecosystems. You are encouraged to use the SLECoP Internal Discussion Board to find communities interested collaborating. For help accessing the site, please review the following tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLSeEPKAqdA&t=68s

Additionally, other Ecosystems have experienced success collaborating across SLECoP communities by using Google Docs. By uploading the submission questions into a Google doc, you can invite your co-presenters to make changes and additions prior to the proposal deadline.

PRESENTATION STYLE
Time for discussion, networking and reflection is always valued. Based on feedback from your SLECoP peers, the highest rated E2E sessions are those that include opportunities for ecosystem leaders to actively participate.

Get creative and be bold! Take a dynamic approach to presenting your information,  some examples include:
   * “Flash talks” (e.g., 3 slides in 5 minutes) or a collection of flash talks on a specific topic in a quick, dynamic manner.
   * "Hands-on” session around a particular theme emphasizing participation and allowing time to practice effective facilitation tools.

All E2E sessions will be presented in smaller breakout rooms that hold 20-60 people (dependent on conference venue availability). Each room will be set with a projector, pens, large poster paper, notepads and tables seating 8-10 participants at each table.  Presenters will be responsible for providing a laptop, if needed.
SCORING RUBRIC
After the September 1 submission deadline, SLECoP member volunteers will review the proposals based on the rubric below. After the review period, the STEM Learning Ecosystems Leadership will select highly rated proposals that contribute to a balanced and comprehensive conference program.

Each proposal will be rated on a scale of 1-5 with respect to:
   * The learning goals for the proposed session will be valuable to attendees.
   * The proposed session includes strategies to address challenges or learnings from failures.
   * The proposed session includes tools or advice available for immediate implementation.
   * The proposed session includes approaches, systems, or initiatives that impact under-resourced/ -represented groups, cultural responsiveness, and/or STEM learning inequities.
   * Speakers and panelists are appropriate for the proposed session (represent multiple perspectives, speakers from more than one Ecosystem).
   * The proposed format increases cross-Ecosystem networking and build community.
   * The proposed session actively involves the audience in a manner appropriate to the session format and content.
