We are looking for students interested in fighting for the right of 16 and 17 year old youth to vote for school board members in the Alhambra Unified School District. Currently that voting age is 18, which means most youth in the school district do not have the opportunity to vote on matters that impact them, until they have graduated. Join us as we advocate for the right for students to be heard on important issues impacting your school!
This campaign is a leadership development and civic engagement opportunity for youth. In addition learning how to be part of a campaign, interns will have opportunities to attend leadership workshops and network with local community leaders.
Who should apply:
- High school students who go to a school in Alhambra Unified School District
Commitments:
- Must regularly attend weekly meetings. Meetings will be held at our Alhambra Office.
- Willing to cooperate with peers on long-term projects
- Contribute an open mind to the campaign
*The Vote at 16-SGV Campaign is supported by API Forward Movement, a local nonprofit. All hours volunteered for Vote at 16 can be signed off for community-service hours.
