John 17 Weekends, as their name implies, intentionally are bringing together diverse parts of the body of Christ. While all team members love, worship, and serve the same Jesus Christ, how we do that in terms of personality, worship and leadership styles, and many other areas varies widely. The goal is not to bring together people who are identical, but rather to grow and mature as we learn from one another and discover our own blind spots and assumptions. We seek a Kingdom culture that looks more and more like heaven, rather than settling for any subset of a Kingdom culture. As such, the following heart attitudes are essential:
1) Love for the entire body of Christ, and desire to see Jesus’ prayer in John 17 fully answered on our weekend and in our communities.
2) Submission to one another out of reverence for Christ.
3) “Help me understand” approach to others when differences occur.
4) Respect for the leaders God has put in place on the weekend.
5) Humility and a teachable spirit – a desire to grow in grace.
6) Investment of time in a majority of team meetings and the full weekend.

Any person serving in a Community Leadership position must be living a life that is not in a state of rebellion against God. A state of rebellion against God can best be described as an unrepentant, open and active participation in or advocacy of activities contrary to the commands (for example, The Ten Commandments) and guidelines in Scripture for holy living and Christian leadership. Some examples (although not limited to these areas) are:
1) Dependence upon alcohol or illegal drugs;
2) Involvement in illegal activities whereby such involvement knowingly violates federal, state or local laws, statutes or ordinances;
3) Involvement in lustful, immoral or perverted activities such as, but not limited to, pornography and/or any sexual relationship outside of a lawful marriage between a man and a woman;
4) Involvement in the occult or Satanic worship;
5) Openly professed allegiance to any non-Christian religion or organization which denies the deity of Jesus Christ.
