Sign up form for SG project - Water efficiency case studies to support performance indicator development
Water efficiency measures have increasingly been applied and researched globally, however to date there hasn't been a comprehensive collation or analysis of these programmes. The EUWM SG is planning to develop an understanding of best practice in water use efficiency to support indicators for comparison between water utilities, states, and counties (similar to the Infrastructure Leakage Index). A baseline is first required to understand the state of water efficiency activities, targets and impacts on consumption internationally.
This scope of this first stage will be limited to urban water management and domestic/ non-domestic water efficiency or conservation programmes. This strategic research could also support answers to a range of questions, including:
*What policy and strategy approaches have been most successful in supporting water efficiency?
*What transitions have occurred in water efficiency within the paradigm shift from supply driven to demand driven approaches?
*What is the baseline level of water efficiency being delivered and how is this being monitored and evaluated?
*How has water efficiency been delivered differently geographically?
The outputs from this research project will be discussed at the IWA Efficient/ Benchmarking 2015 conference
