Sign up form for SG project - Water efficiency case studies to support performance indicator development
Water efficiency measures have increasingly been applied and researched globally, however to date there hasn't been a comprehensive collation or analysis of these programmes. The EUWM SG is planning to develop an understanding of best practice in water use efficiency to support indicators for comparison between water utilities, states, and counties (similar to the Infrastructure Leakage Index). A baseline is first required to understand the state of water efficiency activities, targets and impacts on consumption internationally.

This scope of this first stage will be limited to urban water management and domestic/ non-domestic water efficiency or conservation programmes. This strategic research could also support answers to a range of questions, including:
*What policy and strategy approaches have been most successful in supporting water efficiency?
*What transitions have occurred in water efficiency within the paradigm shift from supply driven to demand driven approaches?
*What is the baseline level of water efficiency being delivered and how is this being monitored and evaluated?
*How has water efficiency been delivered differently geographically?

The outputs from this research project will be discussed at the IWA Efficient/ Benchmarking 2015 conference

Call to Young Water Professionals
Young Water Professionals (aged below 35) represent around 25% of the specialist group membership. We are aiming to increase participation of this group by encouraging contributions as part of this strategic assessment. This will include a range of online interactions through the IWA Waterwiki, specialist group website, webinars and more as well as links to the programme of IWA conferences and events.

A project steering group will be formed and report to the specialist group management committee. Ideally this would have representation from each of the IWA regions, including: Africa; Greater China; Danube and Eastern Europe; Latin American and Caribbean; North America; South-East Asia and Pacific; and, Western and Southern Europe.

WHAT DOES INVOLVEMENT ENTAIL
*Participating in the project steering group will include around 2 online meetings and potentially a webinar before the IWA Efficient conference in April 2015
*Other input to email communications and online collaboration to develop a template for case-studies and to promote this within your region

WHAT WILL YOU GET FROM THIS
*Experience developing and delivering a strategic research project
*Access to industry experts from the EUWM Management Committee to provide guidance and mentoring around this project and more widely
*Demonstrated continuing professional development and can open up your career to new international opportunities
*Support your case to attend the IWA Efficient 2015 conference
