About W.TEC Girls Tech Camp - Ibadan Campus, Oyo State
W.TEC Girls Technology Camp is an initiative aimed at helping girls develop an early interest in computers and other information technologies. The long-term goal is to increase the numbers of women working with and using information technology productively for professional and leadership activities. Nokia, Google.org and GlobalGiving have partnered with Women's Technology Empowerment Centre (W.TEC) to ensure that these young girls have an interesting time learning about today's technology to help them make relevant decisions regarding their career in STEM and much more.
The 2-week non-residential camp in Ibadan commences on July 31 - August 12, 2017, and is targeted at girls in secondary school (JSS 2 to SS2) between the ages of 13 – 17 years. During the camp, the young girls participate in technology workshops and leadership activities. Evaluations of previous camps indicate enhanced leadership skills; creativity; and problem-solving and communication abilities in the girls.
The camp program involves but not limited to practical technology workshops like:
• Computer Appreciation - Basics
• Animation Programming - SCRATCH
• Mobile Application Development – MIT AppInventor2
• 3D Designing and Printing
• Career Talks
• Leadership Sessions
The camp fee is Twenty-five Thousand naira, (N25,000:00).
