Mentoring Day is on March 12th, 2018 at Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College (2101 14th Street, Cloquet, MN 55720) from 9am to 2pm. This year we will be hosting approximately 475 9th-12th grade students with varying disabilities from 13 school districts. When we say disabilities, that can mean a wide range from; ADHD, learning disabled, Autism Spectrum Disorder, emotional/behavioral disorder, speech disorders, physically impaired, cognitively impaired, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, etc.
Our main objective of the day is to provide our students with an opportunity to gain information and knowledge related to careers, postsecondary education, community participation, independent living and recreation and leisure in order for them to make a smooth transition from high school into the adult world.
Students will be checking in and receiving their schedules from 9:00 am - 9:25 am. We will have a keynote speaker from 9:30-10:30 and then students will be dismissed to attend to their chosen sessions which will start promptly at 10:40 and be 30 minutes in length. Students will be choosing 4 different sessions related to their interests. There will be 10 minute breaks in between sessions to allow students time to transition from each session. Students will end the day with lunch at 1:20 and then dismissed back to their school districts.
Little Caesar's pizza will be provided to volunteer's if you choose along with either soda or water.
