Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching - 2019 Application
The Summer Institute on Scientific Teaching will take place Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Hershey Hall at UCLA.  Space is limited to 35 participants total.

We invite UCLA faculty and instructors from all departments and interdisciplinary programs in the Life and Physical Sciences as well as Engineering and Computer Science to apply.

Postdoctoral teaching fellows from UPLIFT and the Chemistry/Biochemistry Teaching Scholars programs as well as graduate student Teaching Assistant Consultants (TACs) for UCLA's 495 TA training courses are encouraged to apply.

We also invite faculty from institutional members of the Southern California Regional Collaborative, a regional network of 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities united in their efforts to improve STEM education outcomes.

The Summer Institute (SI) is part of a national effort to improve college education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and to enhance the academic success of all students by helping current and future faculty develop and adopt inclusive and effective teaching practices. The SI is a nationally recognized, prestigious teaching development program that has trained more than 1,000 faculty in evidence-based instruction over the last decade, including more than 100 STEM faculty at UCLA, some of whom will come back this year to serve as facilitators of this esteemed 4-day institute.

We will work with Department Chairs and Deans to select the cohort of 35 instructors and will notify you as soon as a decision is made (no later than May 1st) so you can plan your summer accordingly.
