W.P. Bartlett Trust Scholarship Application, 2020
The Bartlett Scholarship is only available to students completing their high school or junior college education, who will attend a four year college or university in California. Students must reside in the Porterville area.  (Porterville, Springville, Terra Bella, Strathmore, and environs)

This application must be completed by Friday March 13th, 2020 at 5pm.  (applications are timestamped!). One must click SUBMIT on the last page for the application to go through.  If you fill out the application multiple times, the last one will be counted.

The committee will review all applications and contact those who qualify for an interview via email or via school Counselors. Interviews will take place on the afternoon of Saturday March 28th*, in downtown Porterville.  *subject to change as of now

If chosen for an interview, official transcripts, your university/college acceptance letter, (including estimated expenses and grants) and a copy of your completed FAFSA form (indicating estimated parental or self contribution) must be brought with you. **Applicants will be disqualified without these documents.**
 
Selection of recipients for the Bartlett Scholarship are based on the following criteria. Each factor is weighted as indicated.

1. Academic Evaluation-40%
    a. GPA (min 3.0 cum)
    b. Rigor of courses (AP classes, Honors, level of Core courses)
    c. SAT scores (High school only)
2. Financial Need-30%
3. Personal Interview-20%
4. Activities and Employment-10%

General Scholarship Info:
Each Bartlett Scholarship for those attending a 4 year California University or College (2018 recipients+)  is $6,000, distributed over the course of 2 years.   Each Bartlett Scholarship for those continuing their studies at a local Junior College is $2,000.

The first $1,500 is payable after successful completion of the first semester/quarter. The remaining $4,500 distributed in three additional payments, after proof of success.

Success each semester/quarter entails completion of at least 12 units with a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Online classes are not permitted. *Unless cleared ahead of time with the Bartlett Scholarship committee

Deferment is made on a case by case basis by the Bartlett Scholarship committee.  Please email your counselor any concerns.
