Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids Registration
Christmas Bird Count 4 Kids - Vancouver
Saturday, December 1, 2018 (10:00am-12:30pm)
Meet us on the second floor of the Stanley Park Pavilion
Complimentary light refreshments (snacks, hot cocoa and tea) will be available

In partnership with Bird Studies Canada and Stanley Park Ecology Society, the Christmas Bird Count for Kids (CBC4Kids) is a fun, family-friendly bird watching event that builds bird identification skills and contributes to important citizen science for bird conservation.

The event is suitable for children ages 5-12 and children must be accompanied by an adult. Indoor activities are available for younger siblings and parents who would prefer to stay inside during the bird count.

The adventure begins with a short indoor session that helps build skills on how to identify birds and practice using binoculars. We then head outdoors, and each participant (and accompanying parents/grandparents/guardians) will be part of a small birding team led by an experienced birder. Each team will do a 45-minute bird survey in Stanley Park, recording the number and species of birds seen. After the survey, all teams will meet up again and we’ll tally up all the bird numbers and compare sightings.

What to bring:
- Warm clothes, rain gear and appropriate footwear
- Binoculars and bird field guide if available (otherwise provided)
- Snack and water
