Preserving Identity: A Muslim American Youth Experience [Jar Submissions]
Resident Detroiter, Nushrat Rahman, and local artist, Sarah Rose Sharp, in collaboration with MAS Youth Detroit and the Public Pool Art Space, are curating an interactive art gallery exploring the intersectional and unique identities of Muslim American youth in Michigan! It is our hope that visitors will be delighted, curious, and engaged by the objects they find in the collected jars—perhaps finding things that they readily identify, regardless of their own background, as well as things that raise questions for them. This promises to be a spectacular experience, and a great opportunity to mutually increase connection, understanding, and visibility between coexisting populations, during a particularly turbulent and divisive time in our nation’s politics.

So, how can you contribute?

SUMBIT A JAR:
1. Find a jar in your home OR buy one (although we strongly recommend the former option)!
2. Collect objects that in some way, shape, or form represent or relate to your intersectional Muslim American identity. We're being vague on purpose. Be as creative as you want!
3. Fill out the form below so we can arrange pick-up/delivery and put your jar in the gallery!

NOTE:
- We're defining "youth" as approximately 26 years of age and younger.
- We will arrange a jar retrieval day, but please don't put anything extremely valuable in your jar.
- No perishable items, such as food!
- Michigan only submissions!

Deadline: May 8th
