Registration of Cultural Networks 2017-2019
The research project “Transnational Cultural Cooperation Networks: Portugal European, Lusophone and Ibero-American” is supported by FCT (SFRH/BPD/101985/2014) and anticipates an international mapping of cultural networks.
In this research project, cultural networks are understood as horizontal polycentric organizations (formal or informal) that operate in the cultural sector. A cultural network has to integrate a diverse set of social actors (individual or collective, public or private) who, in a specific context and on the basis of at least a common goal, are able to effectively communicate with each other and decide to apply part of their resources (human, technical or financial) in order to interact in a concerted and structured way for the development of a plan, a program, a project or an action.
With regard to the delimitation of the cultural sector, the research project uses two main documents: ESSnet Culture (2012); Culture Satellite Account 2010-2012 (INE, 2016).
The ten cultural domains that we use are: Heritage, Archives, Libraries, Book & Press, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Audiovisual & Multimedia, Architecture, Advertising and Inter-disciplinary.
The six cultural functions that we use are: Creation, Production & Publishing, Dissemination & Trade, Preservation & Conservation, Education and Management & Regulation.
If you are part or are aware of any national or transnational cultural network, we require you to register it.
