Application for Delegates of the 2nd Outreach weekend of the European Youth Parliament Serbia in Aleksinac
Who are we?
The European Youth Parliament is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-partisan, youth organisation present in more than 40 countries across Europe with the goal of encouraging young people to take initiative and to actively participate in the decision making processes and cultural understanding.

What do we do?
EYP's main activity is organising conferences (sessions) that represent a simulation of the decision making process in European Parliament's parliamentary procedures. At these events, participants, divided into work groups (committees), debate about topics regarding issues currently popular in our society, before finally suggesting their solutions in an official document, the resolution. Each session is consisted of three elements. First stage is Teambuilding, where the participants get to know each other through a series of group dynamic exercises and problem-solving tasks, which help them to form a team, set up their own rules and lay the foundation for a successful Committee Work. Second stage is Committee Work, where the delegates have to find different, new and innovative solutions, trying to best employ their cultural backgrounds and experiences made. One’s own experiences and visions are equally important as expert analyses and will become visible in their motion for a resolution. The final part of every session is the General Assembly, where each committee presents their solutions to the problems they were discussing.

The 2nd Outreach weekend of EYP Serbia will be taking place in Aleksinac, from 20th to 21st of May.
Deadline for submitting your application is on May 16th, 23:59 CET. Please respect the deadline, any applications submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

We are looking forward to reviewing your application and wish you all the best in the selection process! Best of luck to all of the applicants!

Committee Topics
At the session, you as delegates will be allocated to work groups (committees) where you will discuss and debated on one of the given topics. Please thoroughly read the following topics and decide which ones you like best:

Committee on Culture and Education (CULT)
With an increasing high skill profile amongst foreign newcomers, the emigration of intelligent, well-educated individuals (brain drain) is an exceptionally worrying issue in several countries in Europe due to the impact it can have in the future of the economy and scientific development of these countries. Bearing in mind the various political and economic factors involved, what measures should be applied in Serbia in order to nurture local talent and attract foreign professionals?

Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE )
Entering the post truth era of “fake news” and “alternative facts”: A free press is vital in any democracy, yet the media is currently facing many challenges. Competition with online news sources, which are not regulated by as thorough journalistic standards, as well as being faced with strict requirements for “balance” has led to decreasing press standards and less rigorous checking. How can the EU balance freedom of expression with ensuring robust and effective media checks and balances?

Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM)
Bearing in mind the alarming results of the EU's Agency for Fundamental Rights' study on violence against women, which steps should the Member States take to reduce physical, mental and sexual abuse of women?
