The English department has a large number of different part time faculty, anywhere from 80-120 at any one given time. We also have approximately 40 full time faculty. Next year, the first year writing program is interested in establishing a culture where faculty who teach first year writing share ideas concerning approaches to teaching, OER, and the OpenLab. We are hoping to have discussion two or three times a month, and in the future hoping to find funds to be able to pay part time faculty.
