You immediately call for your gondolier to stop the gondola, and leap to the edge of the canal.  The Nocturne doesn’t seem to be in much of a hurry, casually weaving between tourists, and you easily catch up to them.  They seem surprised by your confrontation, and when questioned about their actions appear surprised, claiming they’ve done nothing wrong.  They explain that your eyes must have been playing tricks on you, it’s a common problem with tourists that visit the brightly lit Ca d’Oro district, mirages in the bright square are a nuisance that most locals learn to distinguish eventually.  They ask if you’re satisfied with their answer and ask if they might be on their way as they have preparations to make for the Marriage of the Sea Ceremony at the end of the Saturnalia Festival.
