Using personal devices while at St. Mary Magdalene is a privilege for our students. In order to ensure that all students using devices know and understand their responsibilities, we require families to register through this form. By doing so, you acknowledge understanding of StMM policy. Students who have not registered through this form will not be able to use devices at StMM. Please take your time, read carefully, and ask Mrs. Cadran (teachtech@stmm.net) or Mrs. Loeschorn (loeschorn@stmm.net) if you have questions. StMM policy is subject to change based on the needs of our community. **One form per student, please. My child and I understand that using personal devices at StMM is not guaranteed; teachers can decide at any time when they are allowed in their classroom. *
My child and I understand that we are responsible for the care and storage of our device while at school; teachers and staff cannot manage or hold any devices during the school day. *
Make sure you have a plan in place for where you will store your device during the school day!
My child and I understand that StMM faculty and administration reserve the right to inspect any device suspected of being used to violate school policy or rules. *
My child and I understand that teachers have a right to ask a student to log off from a personal device if there is any suspicion it is not being used properly. A teacher or administrator may also ask a student to log into or open a device to display what is on the screen, if deemed necessary. *
Issues can be related to: General classroom environment, use of unapproved websites, wasting time and resources, not following directions, etc.
My child and I understand that it is our responsibility to turn off or remove any messaging programs that could result in a disruption during class time. *
If we need help with this, we will contact St. Mary Magdalene before bringing the device into school.
My child and I understand that it is never OK to log into a personal account (e-mail, Google Drive, etc.) unless specific permission has been given by the teacher. *
Students should only use StMM accounts (stmm.me, Moodle, RenWeb) at appropriate times. The student may not use the devices to record, transmit or post photos or video of a person or persons on campus. Nor can any images or video recorded at school be transmitted or posted at any time without the express permission of a teacher.
My child and I understand that all other StMM Technology policies about responsible behavior, netiquette, and proper use of passwords and accounts applies when using personal devices. *
Students go over the StMM Technology policy and sign to indicate their understanding of this policy each August.
This document serves as a warning for any actions that may occur when a student is using a personal device at school. Students who do not use their personal devices appropriately will face consequences as outlined in the StMM Technology policy, which include: *
Suspension from all technology devices on campus, possible ISS or other consequences as deemed necessary by StMM administration.
