Arabic in New Mexico: A Common Past and Shared Future

Mandatory Orientation: Monday, June 12, 5:30-7:30 pm
Summer Program: June 26-July 14, 2017 (no class on Tuesday, July 4), 9am-3:30 pm (includes lunch)
Closing Ceremony: Friday, July 14, 2:30-3:30 pm
**Students who miss more than 13 hours of the program will not be permitted to continue, as consistent attendance is crucial to success in an intensive program.**
**Admissions will be conducted on a rolling basis until the program is full.**
About the program:
STARTALK is a federally funded program to encourage the development of critical language skills. The UNM Arabic STARTALK program is an intensive Arabic class that focuses on connections between New Mexico and Arab communities past and present. Thirty students of varying ages and Arabic proficiency levels will be selected to participate in the program. Selection will be based on evidence of interest in the program, prior academic performance, and teacher/counselor letters of recommendation. All program activities, including lunch, will be free of charge for students. Further information can be found at
