We’ve been fundraising at this fantastic event since Chris Evans first thought of combining cars and music into one mega successful festival. Over the years, we have raised over half a million pounds for Pudsey. And 2019 is set to be bigger and better than ever!

Everyone knows that our Bears drivers work really hard out on the open road doing their Dream Rides, but we also know that this is only possible with an exceptionally hard working crew on the ground: promoting rides, taking bookings, marshalling the gates, running the paddock, meeting and greeting passengers and just being there to help out. Because the CarFest event is now so large and well subscribed, we need to manage our volunteers to ensure that we can keep things running as smoothly as possible, so 2019 will see us continue last year’s approach to looking after the crew and we will be letting everyone know where they fit in and how they can help out.

Although some of you will be coming purely to volunteer, most drivers have got a +1 on their ticket allocation and all these +1s add up to a lot of spare hands at the event. We all know that you don’t get a free ride when it comes to charity, so if you are coming to CarFest on a Bears’ ticket allocation, you’ll be expected to muck in with the team! With CarFest tickets costing in excess of £200 minimum, we’re sure you appreciate that everyone who is attending CarFest on a Bears’ ticket allocation will be asked to volunteer if they are not driving so that we have a big enough crew to run the event smoothly. We know that some people are tied up with looking after young children or unable to volunteer because of health, age or mobility issues, if that’s you, just let us know and we will make a note not to throw you a high vis on the day! However, it would be great if you could just keep an eye on the refreshments tent and hand over a brew now and again or dish out a few leaflets.

Obviously, if you’ve bought your own CarFest ticket, feel free to wander at will!

We’ve divided the crew up into separate areas and each area will have its own Team Leader:
Booking Desk
Garage
Marshalls
Cool Wall Promotions
Auction/Gold and Silver packages

Everyone on a Bear’s ticket allocation will be given a role in one of these areas. We know everyone has something amazing to offer, so if you’ve got experience in a particular area, or skills you think will be a good match, just let us know and we will try to allocate you to that section.

Please be aware that Sporting Bears members are not guaranteed free food/drink in the track drivers’ lounge, nor entrance to the main paddock, the VIP area or the guest bar next to the stage. This is entirely at the discretion of Carfest and subject to their own health and safety arrangements. In previous years, some Bears have been given priority entrance to some of these areas and this may have raised expectations. We know this arrangement is a little more formal than some other events, but it does enable us to operate a fairer, better prepared and more efficient crew. And of course we all get to party in the evening!
