Meet the Panelists
BRENNAN CAVERHILL, Elementary School Teacher, Toronto Catholic District School Board
Brennan teaches science & technology, social studies and Phys. Ed. with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, where he uses his science background to create novel educational tools in the classroom. As a Google Certified Innovator and National Georgraphic Certified Educator, Brennan brings an incredible amount of diversity to the table. Brennan also owns a photography company, and shares his photography skills with others with private courses, as well as developing the Environmental Visual Communication post-graduate certificiate program at Fleming College. Brennan has research experience from his MSc in Conservation Biology (Acadia University), as well as professional experience as a conservation biologist, consultant and researcher.
JULIE JONES, Education and Special Programs Coordinator, Ontario Science Centre Science School
Julie holds many roles with the Ontario Science Centre. Julie is an educator who develops and delivers the School Programs - curriculum based workshops and presentations schools will participate in as part of the field trip experience. She supports the teachers and students of the Science School by creating a strong connection to the Centre as well as all operational coordination. Julie also supports any larger events the department may host in a project management and operation coordination role. Julie has held a diversity of positions over the last 20 years of her career, from developing exhibits to presenting planetarium programs. Julie received her BSc in Forestry from the University of Toronto.
MELISSA MATHERS, Project Coordinator, Let's Talk Science
Melissa holds a MSc in Physics and Astronomy from York University, where she studied antimatter at CERN. She now works as a Project Coordinator at Let's Talk Science where she brings meaningful hands-on STEM experiences to children and youth in the Greater Toronto Area.
JILL WHEELER, Course & Lab Coordinator, Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, University of Toronto
Jill is the Course and Lab Coordinator for BIO120/220, two of the largest undergraduate biology courses at UofT. She is responsible for creating the lab curriculum, training the course teaching assistants, and making sure everything runs smoothly for a course of over 1000 students. Jill has her MSc in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Toronto, and a MEd in Higher Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
