Streets could be much more than they are ...

By embracing the concept of Open Streets, we can all create shared spaces that embody respect, and help bridge the social and spatial divides of our city.

We believe streets should

- enable safer and more cohesive communities
- provide platforms for creative expression of local cultures and values
- be places for recreation and social interaction
- contribute to job creation and local economic activity
- provide choice in how we move around the city

Friends of Open Streets support these principles, and will lobby to change the way people use, perceive and experience streets.

Activity organisers take responsibility for their own setup and will not be reimbursed for participating

The street must be kept clear for mobility

There will be no access for motorised vehicles once the road closure is in place

No motorised vehicles may be parked along the route

No large infrastructure allowed (stages, scaffolding etc.)

No marketing allowed (handing out fliers or other collateral, brand activations or big banners)

No alcohol may be sold or consumed (except inside licensed establishments)

Music must be kept to a reasonable volume
