Dear Parent(s) & Guardian(s):
My name is Mr. Thomas Force, and I am excited to begin my fifth year at Lionville Elementary School as the general music teacher & chorus director. This year, your child will have the opportunity to participate in our extra-curricular chorus program, which takes place in the morning before school begins. This program not only teaches students proper singing and breathing techniques, but also gives them performance experience that will prepare them for their future in the DASD music program. Students will learn to sing a variety of songs from different cultures, time periods and styles that will both entertain and teach. I truly hope that your child will be able to join us and share their love of music.

There will be two concert days this year – a winter concert (morning and evening) on Wednesday, December 12th and a spring concert (morning and evening) on Thursday, May 16th, with the morning concerts occurring during school hours. Rehearsals will take place every A day morning, from 7:45-8:30. I am asking all participants to be in attendance & prompt at every rehearsal in order to get the most out of the experience, and to also be as prepared as possible for performances – if any student misses more than 3 rehearsals, they will be asked to not perform in the concert. Students are not allowed to be let into the building until 7:40, so please do not drop them off any earlier.  Concert attire will be dress shirt & dress pants (or skirt) with dress shoes. If your child is interested in joining chorus, please detach, fill out and send in the permission slip below OR fill out the electronic permission slip that can be found on my teacher page on the Lionville Elementary School website (http://www.dasd.org/Page/4014)  You do not need to return this slip if you complete the online form. Activity Fee: The Downingtown Area School District now charges a $25 music participation fee for band, orchestra, and chorus (which covers all three performing ensembles).
 Log onto www.Payforit.net and pay activity fees online. Students enrolled in the free/reduced lunch plan will be eligible to have their fees waived. More information can be found on the district website (www.dasd.org). Fees must be paid by Wednesday, October 31.
