SUMMARY:
IDPA is the fastest growing action pistol shooting sport and Pioneer’s Intro to IDPA Class is just what a shooter needs to get in on the action! This class will teach the basics of IDPA competition and offer near individualized attention, so students will feel comfortable when competing in an IDPA match. We will follow an easy to understand format and provide a friendly, safe and supportive environment.
This is not a basic pistol course. We require prior safe gun handling experience, such as completion of a firearm safety/basic pistol course. If you need to find a course in your area, please reach out to us and we will help you coordinate with an instructor. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the latest edition of the IDPA rule book.
TOPICS COVERED:
Range safety, IDPA rules and regulations, gear requirements, target scoring, definitions of common IDPA terminology, low-light shooting/ flashlight handling techniques, shooting from behind cover and basic strategies to do your best with any IDPA stage design. Once we get through the classroom portion and lunch we’ll hit the range and have fun! We will run through simple to challenging IDPA stages, learning, laughing and shooting all the way!
REQUIRED GEAR:
- Pistol or Revolver
- Holster (It must be rigid & remains open so gun is holstered with one hand. Soft fabric holsters are not permitted)
- Minimum of 2 Magazines/Speed Loaders, although 3 is highly recommended
- 2 -3 Magazine Pouches/Speed Loader Pouches (Although just placing them in a pocket is an acceptable alternative.)
- 200 Rounds of Ammo minimum.
- Ear and Eye Protection
- Concealment Garment (a shooting vest or open-front shirt that will cover your firearm when holstered).
- A baseball style hat.
- ALL IDPA COMPETITION GEAR REQUIREMENTS & RESTRICTIONS ARE IN THE IDPA RULE BOOK.
