Get trained by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), learn from a public practice tax associate, and obtain your CRA Tax Volunteer Certification!
As a volunteer, you will prepare tax returns for ASA’s tax return service clients. You will become familiar with UFile, the same tax software that many accounting firms use. Apply your knowledge while gaining practical & volunteer experience that will jump-start your career! The SFU ASA Tax Program preserves the benefits and financial entitlements for over 1,000 SFU clients as well as providing peace of mind for these individuals in meeting their tax filing obligations.
Volunteer Requirements:
1. All selected volunteers must attend THREE mandatory training sessions (information below).
2. Any volunteer who registers with ASA must complete a minimum of 10 tax returns.
3. Each volunteer will be assigned the number of clients he/she has requested and is personally responsible to arrange a time with the client to file the client’s tax return. All tax returns may be filed in the WMC business computing labs.
4. Volunteers will be screened based on the registration form and priority will be assigned based on experience and interest to ensure the quality of volunteers recruited.
