Dear Parents:
The Kenosha Unified Schools District’s Family Education Program welcomes the opportunity to bring family interactive learning experiences and parent training to individual school sites. The education program is planned for and by parents. Programs usually include a family meal and childcare. In an effort to develop a schedule for the 2016/2017 school year, we need your input. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. PLEASE NOTE: The programs listed are suggestions; schools may plan their own topics. For questions, please contact Patricia Demos at (262) 359-2257.

Weekly Training Series

“911 for Parents” Training is a four-week series on child behavior, personal management, & motivation.

Successful Fathering is a ten week series that focus on strengthening father/child relationships and involvement in school.

Supporting School Success is a five-week series for parents with children in grades PK-3. The series is designed to improve communication, reduce misbehavior, and help children succeed in school by addressing academic areas.

Prime for Life is a four-week program designed to assist parents in talking with their children about alcohol and other drugs.

Motheread/Fatheread is a series of six trainings that assist parents of young children in reading to their children.

Second Step is a six-week series on violence prevention specifically addressing problem solving and anger management.

Adult Book Study is a 3-4 week session for parents.

Adult/Child Book Study is a 3-4 week session for parents and their child; based on grade level.

Get Ready to Read is an interactive workshop for parents and students. The presenter will share fun “hands on” ideas you can do to make your child learn to love learning and reading.

Be a Ready Reader is a program for parents and children ages 3-103 on how to motivate and bring excitement to the reading process.

Dr. Seuss Night is an evening for families to enhance literacy skills with learning stations that provided interactive games focusing on reading.

Learning Games Kids Can’t Resist is for parents and students. This program will cover 15 learning games that make teaching reading easy and fun.

Visualization for Children is a workshop for parents and children grades K-5 to “go within,” discovering and developing their own creativity and imagination.

Vocabulary Cartoons is an interactive workshop for parents and students grades K through 12 to develop and utilize more new vocabulary.

Making Books is for parents and students of all ages. You will turn things you might have tossed out into a treasured book.

Street Smart Kids is a program for parents and students grades K-5 developed by the City of Kenosha Police Department.

Elementary Science Program is for parents and students in grades K-5.

Math Magic program is for parents and students in grades K-5. You will play interactive math games that encourage students that math is fun.

Preparing for Middle School is for parents and students in grade 5.

Math Fair is an interactive program where students present a curriculum lesson to families. Each grade level has several students that provide presentations.
