Name Badges: Volunteers may be required to wear a name badge or Volunteer T-Shirt.

Time Sheet: Upon arrival, each volunteer should report to their FJG supervisor. The supervisor will issue a time sheet to each volunteer. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to have the FJG supervisor confirm and sign off on the time sheet at the end of their shift.

Parking: Volunteers may park on the grassy area between Jungle Island and the Japanese Garden during events they work. Space is limited and is available on a first come basis.

Guest Relations: As a volunteer you represent the Japanese Garden and FJG. As such you should always be helpful and friendly. Your goal is to ensure the guest’s experience is a pleasant one. If you unable to answer questions about the Garden or an event, you should direct that guest to the nearest FJG Staff member. If a volunteer observes inappropriate behavior of a guest or volunteer, you should report it to the nearest staff member.

Accidents/Emergencies: Any volunteer injured while volunteering must report the incident immediately to their supervisor. Any volunteer who witnesses an accident should notify the nearest FJG Staff member. Volunteers should NOT administer first aid, unless they have been trained to do so.

Sexual Harassment: No volunteer should be subject to sexual harassment from other volunteers or staff members. Any incidents of this nature should be reported in a timely manner to their FJG Supervisor.

Drug Free Workplace: The Friends of the Japanese Garden wishes to maintain a safe work environment for the volunteers and staff members. Use of drugs, being under the influence of alcohol or being in an impaired condition while volunteering is strictly prohibited.

CELL PHONES & Other Electronic Devices: Volunteers agree to work at the event. Cell phones and other electronic Devices can NOT be used during event hours unless emergency or with permission.

Minor Volunteers: Volunteer 's age up to 13 years old needs adult attendant, and volunteer's age 14-18 years old needs signature from parent / guardian.
