Massage with Lara Swan: deep tissue, myofascial release, assisted stretching and natural herbal remedies.
// How to prepare
Please wear comfy underpants
in a non-delicate fabric. If you would prefer to wear additional
clothes, please let me know as this is absolutely fine.
Please
arrive clean, and drink plenty of water earlier in the day so you are
hydrated. I recommend that you are not very hungry or very full for the
massage, as it helps the treatment to be most effective and takes the
best care of your well-being.
Please let me know about any allergies, illnesses, conditions and injuries in advance.
// My massage approach and style
I
combine eastern and western techniques, including deep tissue strokes,
myofascial release and assisted stretching. Clients can choose from
intense to gentle treatments, with as much or as little stretching as
they prefer. I carry out massages on both a table and floor-mat setup,
and use a range of natural oils and herbs; including aromatherapy and
medicinal tinctures and scrubs.
I offer personalised treatments, designed around the client. Outcomes and benefits include stress relief, muscular ease, postural
alignment, improved vitality and performance, increased energy and focus,
balanced digestion, free breath, better sleep and a deep
sense of nourishment and calm.
// My qualifications
I have completed 3 qualifications with The Ayurvedic Yoga Massage Institute, 2 x 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training courses plus further specialist study in Women's Health, Womb Yoga and Feminine, Embodied and Somatic Yoga. I've also studied with and gained certification from The International Macrobiotic School, alongside other courses in natural health modalities. I'm currently studying to be an Integrated Health Coach with The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, affiliated with The State University of New York.
// Further info
I give massages both on a massage table and on floor
mats, similar to Thai Massage. Using the floor is a technique found
within the Ayurvedic tradition, offering enhanced stability and space to
move and restore the body in a very calming manner.
By placing and supporting your body into yoga-style stretches, I can enable a deeper release and guide the body with safety. This is different to stretching our own bodies, as there is no muscular strength or
tension required to reach the position.
By
connecting the body, mind and energy we can promote healing on many
levels, making massage an effective and beautifully integrated tool for
health. As I use massage to address specific physical needs such as muscular aches and pains or improved
mobility, it naturally helps to calm nerves, sooth psychological
tension, detoxify, restore chemical and hormonal balance, process and let go of
difficult emotions, support immunity, unblock blockages and increase peace and vitality on
all levels of our being.
// A safe space of belonging
It's important to me that clients feel safe and respected, and I place the utmost importance on creating this experience and assurance for everyone. I value equity, diversity and inclusion. Please contact me to discuss any questions or concerns that you have, as I am dedicated to offering accessible services and opposing all forms of discrimination.
