Required
What's the longest hike you've done in terms of mileage? *
Please describe a recent backpacking or camping trip you went on within the past 3 years (if applicable). When (month, year)? Where? Who with? Was it a Hoofers Trip? Weather? Route? Elevation? *
Segments of this hike will require us to walk, wade, and at times submerge our bodies to ferry packs through tight spaces. Are you comfortable being in cold water as deep as 6'?
Are you certified to drive UW Madison Fleet Vehicles through the Hoofer Outing Club? *
Do you have any of the following wildnerness medicine certifications? Not required, but good information to know.
Can you pay the trip deposit of $325? *
The Trip Deposit is non-refundable unless another HOC member from the waitlist or elsewhere takes your spot. If no such person can be found, a partial refund will be given of leftover trip funds at the end of the trip. *
Do you have any allergies or dietary restrictions? If yes, please explain. *
Do you have a personal vehicle that we can use? This would help us lower the cost of the trip and the trip deposit. (You will be reimbursed for the cost of gas at the end of the trip). If so, what make and model and how many people can it seat in total? *
Expectations of Good Expedition Behavior
A big trip like this is a huge privilege to go on and we're super excited! It is expected that each group member contributes to the work associated with a trip like this. This would include help doing the dishes, packing the gear/cars, helping with cooking, picking up garbage, being an active participant in group decisions etc. It is also important to have a positive and flexible attitude. For example, if a car ride gets long, or if weather doesn't cooperate with us or if something goes wrong, a good attitude and those positive vibes will make the trip more enjoyable for both you and the people you are with.
Do you understand the above? *
