GetSET Counselor Description
1. POSITION REPORTS TO: Head Counselor


2. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

- Provide 24 hour live in supervision of GetSET participants for 1 week duration in college campus environment.
- Assist Head Counselors with the development, management and follow through of program activities.
- Provide guidance, drive schedule/ agenda and ensuring safety of GetSET participants.


3. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

Leadership
- Serve as a role model to GetSET participants by your actions, appearance, manners, language and general conduct.
- Provide leadership for GetSET participants supporting the Society of Women Engineers’ mission and GetSET program.
- Coordinate & Guide activities and experiences.
- Familiarize with each assigned participant and their individual needs to encourage a high level of respect and integrity during all activities. Help them understand and appreciate the differences/ value of other participants, volunteers and  general public.

Safety
- Assist Head Counselor(s) in developing and managing an innovative, empowering, and
  safe environment for the GetSET participants.
- Responsible for the health and well-being of the participants in your assigned class.
- Promote and enforce all safety practices.
- Ensure that daily hygiene practices are followed.
- Review and communicate required / related safety rules, documentation and expectations.

Summer Week Support
- Supervise GetSET participants during workshops, throughout dining halls and within general Campus/ dorm ensuring appropriate behavior and referencing policies & procedures accordingly.
- Participate in / supervise during camp-wide activities / events (i.e. field trip, Engineering Olympics, Panel).
- Implement disciplinary system and protocols.
- Assist Head Counselor in supervising dorm’s housekeeping and sanitation rules.
- Organize supplies within storage or distribution areas and ensure equipment is used properly.
- Attend counselor team training sessions as scheduled prior to Summer Week (approximately total
  of 8 hours - May be scheduled as full day or two half days).
- Attend & engage in staff meetings as scheduled during Summer Week.
- Attend & engage in daily check-ins with assigned Head Counselor to report all incidents, safety/health concerns and updates regarding participants/ program/ activities.
- Support the overall Summer Week operations as requested.

4. QUALIFICATIONS

- Support & represent the beliefs and principles of the Society of Women Engineers.
- Completion of year in college.
- Organized camp experience (within minimum of 1 year prior to application submission).
- Experience working with children (plus if high school aged youth).
- Ability to walk at least one mile.
- Ability to lift and carry 20-40 pounds.
- Ability to carry and load luggage, tables, chairs, and other equipment.
