2018 CISDSU summer camp volunteer application form
Summer camp volunteers support this camp in variety of aspects. The primary job is to be the team captain of an assigned team. Each team has 5 to 6 children and volunteers' job is to make sure your team members pay fully attention to class instructors in the classroom and assist students in finishing tasks assigned by the instructors, and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures during outdoor and indoor activities. The volunteers' secondary duty is to to provide assistance needed to summer camp to make it successful by doing various tasks.

7/30 - 8/10, Monday to Friday : 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Volunteer Job Description
Please note that the following requirements are subject to change depending on the program. Confucius Institute at SDSU reserves the right to accept or deny volunteers at their discretion.

Minimum Qualifications:

   - Strength and endurance required to maintain consistent supervision of campers
   - Ability to be a positive member of a team and to accept supervision and guidance
   - Good character, integrity and adaptability
   - Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental or other hazards related to camp activities

Desired Requirements:

  - Photography or videography experience
  - Have a passion for Chinese culture and learning Chinese
  - Desire and ability to work with children outdoors or in a camp setting

Requirements:

   - Interview with Camp coordinator
   - Attend mandatory Summer Camp Orientation in JULY
   - Commit to volunteering for a minimum of one full week, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Your prompt arrival and completion of your shift are vital to the success. When you sign up, you commit to being present for that specific shift(s) during the entire length of that shift(s)
   - Volunteers are not allowed to use personal cell phones (calls, texting, etc.) while working as a volunteer. Volunteer’s attention will be on the campers at all times. (Please note that Leadership Staff including Head Counselors use cell phones for direct camp business)


Duties:

  - Do not ever leave children unattended.
  - Assist in camp programs where campers are present to help create a safe and fun environment
  - Provide leadership and participate in camp activities, sharing enthusiasm for each activity
  - Work with unit heads, program directors or other staff to meet the needs of the campers
  - Encouraging respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities
  - Committing to and upholding all camp rules
  - Set a good example for your campers
  - Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness and apply any necessary behavior management techniques
  - Enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures
