Filipinos Spend More Time on the DepEd Website Than Pornhub

Check it out, we're not completely hopeless!

Alexa—the data company, not the virtual assistant—has released its list of The Top 500 Sites on the Web. And while the Philippines has made the news more than once for being the country that spends the most time on Pornhub, it turns out that Filipinos spend even more time on the Department of Education's official website.

According to the results, Filipinos spend eight minutes and 26 seconds on Pornhub daily, while they stay a whopping 24 minutes and 18 seconds on DepEd.gov.ph. The porn site sits all the way down at the 32nd spot, while DepEd ranks 11th on the list.

We took a look at Alexa’s stats for more insight into these baffling results, and it turns out that most people search for variations of the keywords “lis deped.” LIS stands for Learners’ Information System, which was implemented in 2011 and is basically a registry for students enrolled in public school.

It's worth noting that Alexa lists sites by their 1 month rank, and the "daily time on site" is "updated daily based on the trailing 3 months." So it kind of makes sense that for a certain couple of months, teachers and school officers spent way more time updating records than...watching people get it on.

It turns out that Filipinos also spend more time on Reddit than they do on Facebook. While Facebook still ranks higher than Reddit, it turns out that Filipinos stay on the popular forum for 15 minutes and 43 seconds, while they only stay on the social network for 11 minutes and 13 seconds.
