UXIN Div 2 2017-18 Information Pack

We look forward to seeing you at University Mixed Indoor Nationals - Div 2! We hope you will have an enjoyable and competitive weekend, and we believe the information contained in this pack will facilitate this. Contact details for the organisers are included if you do have further questions.

Contacts

Tournament director:          Meg Price            meg.price@ukultimate.com        07984563597

Venue

Address: Wildcats Arena, Greenwood Rd, Nottingham, NG3 7EB

Parking: There is ample parking at the venue. Please park legally and responsibly.

Arrival: Please REPORT TO THE TD DESK UPON ARRIVAL to receive any new instructions or any changes to this information. There will not be a separate captain’s meeting, but every team should make sure that a representative checks in on arrival. If you don’t, don’t blame us when you don’t know what’s going on!

Times:  Games will run from approximately 9am to 4pm on Saturday, and from 9am to 5pm on Sunday. The full schedule link is below.

Clothing and footwear: It is a hard court so please wear suitable footwear - no football boots!

Please note: You need to keep the corridor clear that leads to the other hall (just on your left as you go into the main hall). Other people will be using the venue and they’ll need to get through so don’t sit there/leave your bags there. There is plenty of space on the bleacher seating for you to leave things and watch the games.

There are other corridors (ones that lead to the changing rooms and toilets) where you can do your spirit circles or you need to go outside. DO NOT BLOCK THE ENTRANCE.

During Games

Please remember that it is never worth endangering yourself or others to get the disc. Walls and floors are hard, as well as the bleacher seating, and your body will not react well to crashing into them at speed. Please do remain aware of other players and your surroundings.

Do not sit too close to the sideline or with your back to the pitch if you are sat nearby - you could have a stray disc from the game hit you from behind! Also, do not block the reception area or café with spirit circles - please be respectful of other people using the venue.

Paper and Printing

We DON’T intend to print out schedules and copies of this pack for every team. Please make sure you bring your own (or ensure you can access it through your phone) if you need a copy. There will be a large up to date copy at the TD desk throughout the weekend of course.

Food and Drink

There will be hot drinks and snacks for sale on-site so make sure that you bring change!

There is also a Tesco Express a 10 minute walk away on Oakdale Rd, NG3 7EF. Apparently there is a good sandwich shop down the road if you go before 1pm as well so might be worth checking out!

Make sure that you put all of your rubbish in the bins provided. There will be plenty on site so do not leave your banana skins and crisp packets lying around. If we see you leaving it behind we will ask you to pick it up.

Spirit of the game

Spirit scores will be entered through an online form, which can be found here:

http://goo.gl/G5V2Kg

You should be able to access the form on your smartphone (or one of your team-mates’ phones – some models seem to struggle more than others) and facilities will be available at the TD desk to input your scores if you can’t get it to work – but be aware there may be a queue for just one laptop there! Use your phone if you can.

Please enter scores as promptly as you are able – in particular, we expect to award a spirit trophy based on the results that have been entered before the presentation. If you fail to enter your scores on the day, it is of course still worth entering them later as it improves the feedback your opponents receive, but if you can enter them on the day it would be far better.

(If you end up, a week after the tournament, with the highest spirit – but someone else took the trophy – that’s hard luck I’m afraid. Take it up with the teams who submit late!)

Medical

First aid will be provided by venue staff.

For serious incidents, the nearest hospital is:

Queens Medical Centre

Derby Rd

Nottingham

NG7 2UH

Please be aware that the East Road entrance will be closed from Monday 27 March for 20 weeks.

Or call 999 for an ambulance.

For minor injuries, there is an NHS Urgent Care Centre at Seaton House, City Link, Nottingham, NG2 4LA.

Schedule

The online schedule can be accessed here: https://goo.gl/WjhecL

The tournament will be played under the UKU Indoor version of the 2017 WFDF rules.

All other game rules, game lengths and formats are explained on the schedule itself.

Health and Safety

As mentioned, don’t sit too close to the sidelines or with your back to the pitch - there’s plenty of space in the venue!

There is also plenty of space for spirit circles to take place as mentioned above (down towards the changing rooms or outside) so please do not block the reception area or entrance.

In the event of an emergency, please leave the building using the nearest and safest exit leaving all of your personal belongings and meet at the assembly point. Please familiarise yourselves with where these exits are and where the assembly point is on arrival. All team captains are responsible for counting their players and if any players are missing or suspected to still be in the venue, they are to inform the TD immediately. If you come across a fire, please raise the nearest alarm or tell a member of staff/the TD straight away.
