MONROVIA >> A woman in her 80s suffered minor injuries after her car became trapped under a big rig on the 210 Freeway Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred 3:36 p.m. on the westbound 210 Freeway, west of Myrtle Avenue.

The tractor trailer and a white Lincoln car were heading west on adjacent lanes at 55 mph, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Michael Maehr.

He said it looks like the woman became unconscious and lost control of the Lincoln, which veered right and hit a guardrail. Maehr said the car drifted to the left and went underneath the trailer of the big rig.

“She was trapped,” Maehr said.

Monrovia Fire Chief Brad Dover said firefighters extricated the woman who was the sole occupant. Firefighters took her to a hospital with minor injuries, according to Dover.

Maehr said the woman suffered a contusion to the head. He said the big rig driver wasn’t injured.
