Uppinangady, July 15, 2018: Shiradi Ghat, the vital link between Mangaluru and Bengaluru which had remained closed for traffic for nearly five months to facilitate the second stretch of road upgradation works, was opened for traffic on July 15, Sunday.
Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel inaugurated the upgraded road in the presence of State Minister for PWD H D Revanna, State Minister for Urban Development and Housing UT Khader, former minister B Ramanatha Rai and other dignitaries.
The second phase of Shiradi Ghat road included concretisation of the 12.38 km road from Kempuhole to Addahole. The concretised road is 8.50 meter wide. The inauguration was held at Gundya.
Legislators Rajesh Naik, Harish Poonja, Sanjeeva Matandoor, Harish Kumar, DK ZP Chief Meenakshi Shanthigodu and others were present.
The road was closed for the second phase works from January 20. A sum of Rs 74 crores was sanctioned for the project.
