Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

First included in Hot for Teacher Anthology: 19 Stories Filled with Lust and Love.

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

If you’re a fan of student-teacher romance, then you don’t want to miss this one. 'Defy' is the prequel to 'Vicious', the first installment in L.J. Shen’s newest series entitled 'Sinners of Saint' and it was one hot little gem I’ve read in one sitting. It was sexy and steamy and everything I’ve come to expect from this author.

“Oh, Melody, you’re so fucked. Luckily for you, you’re about to get fucked even harder.”

'Defy' tells the story of Melody, a twenty-six young woman whose life changes completely when her career as a dancer is finished after an accident. Now, a teacher at an elite high school, Melody hates her job, but forced by circumstances she has do it as best as she knows how. Melody’s life becomes more interesting when she’s blackmailed by one of her students, the sexy as sin, arrogant senior Jaime Followhill. Jaime is a sex god and like nothing a high school student should be. “Poor” Melody is taken aback by her painfully blunt student who makes sure Melody knows how much he wants to f@ck her.

“Yesterday was an introduction,” he snapped. “Today…today, baby, I’m marking you as mine.”

Melody knows she should be disturbed or shocked by her student’s confession, but she’s anything but. She knows she shouldn’t be so…aroused by Jaime’s dirty talking, but she can’t help it.

What starts a secret affair becomes in a short amount of time so much more for both of them, but what happens when someone finds out about their taboo relationship?

“I wanted him to kiss me. Kiss me hard and soft all at once, a kiss that’d assure me that I wasn’t crazy for discovering what I’d just discovered on this tattered sofa in this tiny apartment. That I was in love with my student.”

description

This was one hot as hell novella I really enjoyed! It was fast-paced, sexy, fun and pretty delightful. Despite the short length, 'Defy' had a well-developed plot and the story line was quite entertaining. The two main characters were well portrayed and endearing and to be honest I wouldn’t have minded this one to be a full length novel.

Melody was a great heroine. She owned her sexuality from the beginning and she wasn’t afraid to admit that she wants Jaime, which I really loved. Jaime was sexy, blunt with a hot, dirty mouth I must admit I loved. I enjoyed the way he chased Melody and how possessive and dominant he was at times. The intensity and the relationship between them were fantastic even if there were some insta-lust and insta-love between them. These two were hot as hell together, fun and they complemented each other perfectly.

“He opened my mouth with his tongue and devoured me like I was his fucking last meal. His tongue attacked mine, owning my mouth, licking every part and swallowing my needy grunts.”

Vicious, the hero from the next installment in the series was fantastically introduced and I’m anxiously waiting to read his story.

Overall, a fantastic, entertaining hot novella!

Ever since reading ‘Vicious’, I have been looking forward to reading the story of Jaime and Melody. I love a forbidden love story and says “taboo” like a student-teacher romance. ‘Defy’ was everything that I had hoped for. I devoured this quick read and all of it’s naughty goodness!

After her dream career as a dancer comes to a tragic end, she is forced to pursue a lackluster job as a high school Literature teacher. With no real interest in teaching, she is less than enthused to face the spoiled rich kids than run the elite school where she’s been hired on a whim. It is no mystery to her that she doesn’t belong there and that the Principal intends to fire her at the first opportunity that she gets. With her job on the rocks, Melody Greene does the unthinkable – she has an affair with her high school student.

Of course, Jaime isn’t just any student. He’s the Principal’s out of control son. It seems that both teacher and son have an axe to grind with the Principal. What better way than by having an illicit affair right under her nose?

While this novella was steamy and sordid, with a dose of forbidden, it was also surprisingly sweet. L. J. Shen did a good job of showing the softer side of Jaime, while staying true to the privileged, above-the-law young man that we were introduced to as one of the four Hotholes in ‘Vicious’. There were really two sides to Jaime that were in stark contrast to one another.

Melody also proved to be a character that I really liked. She was so very human and flawed that she was easy to sympathize with. She was not blind to her faults or Jaime’s, but she loved him anyway. I loved that she chose to embrace her forbidden desires, pursuing a relationship with Jaime, knowing the controversy that would result. Similarly, I love that Jaime had the spine to stand up to his parents, even though it meant losing the wealth he’d always known.

Overall, I thought that this was a fantastic novella. It was a steamy, short read and highly entertaining. If you enjoyed ‘Vicious’, or even if you didn’t, this is a great choice if you’re looking for a taboo, forbidden love story.

This was so HOT! Hotter than I expected actually.

I suppose most readers became familiar with All Saints High and the four Hotholes after reading the book “Vicious”. The four ruthless teenagers and rulers of the Todos Santos are: our infamous Vicious, the team captain Trent, Emilia’s ex boyfriend Dean and Jaime the son of the principal.

So, if you have read “Vicious” you will know that Jaime is the quieter out of the four and that he has a huge crush on his Literature teacher. And that makes our boy Vicious really really angry.

Our main female character is Melody Greene and she is the one who is telling her story. She is 26 years old (8 years older than Jamie), ex ballerina (she lost her chance to shine when she was 18 and she broke her leg) and a very bad teacher. She hates teaching and she knows it. According to her she lacks motivation, compassion and authority.

Melody has a great sense of humor and a spot-on self–knowledge. She starts her affair with Jaime wholeheartedly and she has no regrets:

“My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.”

Melody and Jaime together are smoking HOT. I was feeling that the pages I was reading with the scenes of them together could burst into flames any time now.

Yes, I ADORE Jaime!
I absolutely LOVED the way he is trying to seduce Ms. Greene.
I was LAUGHING SO HARD with her attempts to resist and with the way she falls into his trap.
I FOUND IRRESISTIBLE the way he orders her around and treats her like an adorable little girl who is messing with the bad boy of the town.
I was absolutely STUNNED when he is describing the ways he is stalking her. We are talking about reaching a new high in stalking business.

Another additional benefit of this story is that we get to see Vicious and Emilia from another person’s perspective. Vicious the sociopath and Emilia the sensitive girl.
Look at the way the two of them are described by Melody:
Vicious: cold, sullen, expressionless eyes, rebellious anger that could electrify you to the point of goose skin, scary, he made girls wet their panties from fear and lust.
Emilia: Delicate, artistic, a diamond in the rough.

Of course it is a highly recommended story, if you loved Vicious.
But it is also a great short length standalone, if you love forbidden relationships which end up with a Happily Ever After and nobody really gets hurt in the process.
In other words Vicious was a dark book, but Defy is pure sunshine!

(I read it as part for "Hot for the Teacher anthology", but it definitely needs to be released as a standalone novel.)

SHINY NEW BOOK COVER AND THE BOOK IS FINALLY A STANDALONE ON 3RD OF FEBRUARY 2017.

Who was the grown-up here? Who was corrupting who?

I LOVE forbidden love stories, and after reading Vicious I was excited to see there was a novella about teacher Melody Greene, and her student, Jaime Followhill.

Melody is a 26 year old teacher who only ever wanted to be a dancer. When she got hurt, everything changed for her. Jaime is one of the four HotHoles in Todos Santos. He is 18 and he, along with his three friends Vicious, Dean, and Trent run the school. Melody is their teacher. And did I mention that Jaime’s mom is the principal?

Defy is taboo. It’s crazy hot, but it wasn’t a quick, steamy read with no story. I felt the connection between this couple. After reading Vicious, I knew where they would end up and couldn’t be more happy about that. I am loving LJ Shen’s writing and this series in particular. I can’t wait to read the next one!

So I got Vicious from Netgally a while back(sorry I totally forgot I had it). I decided I would read it, and seen the whole series was on my audible romance package. So I thought wow this is fate. I need to read the whole series, and downloaded Defy. I love me some taboo romances. The forbidden fruit is so yummy. And while I enjoyed this read, I didn't care for the Melody. I loved Jaime. The problem was 18 year old Jaime felt more like the adult and 26 Melody came off like a 12 year old wannabe. The things she would think or say were so dorky and cringy that that they would throw me out of the story. I would be just getting into the read becoming absorbed in the world and then Melody, who was 26 mind you, would come out of no where with one of these zinger

I might have an easier time rejecting him if he weren’t a female lubricant

Eww or

Seriously, the kid was so ripped, his guns were the size of fucking bowling balls.

Guns really ?? or

What can I say? Booze and eighteen-year-old jocks who are hung like a horse made this girl hella happy.

and my favorite cringe

I took a brief moment to process the fact that I had my student’s one-eyed snake staring right back at me

one eye snake for really are we 12? OMG then there was the fact that Jizz was used one time too many! As in anytime the word Jizz is used it's too many. Now saying all that I think Melody would have came off better had this been a full length novel. I think a bit more development would have went a long way in making her more understandable and less dorky. Jaime was a dream and I am glad I read this book. It gave me a view into Vicious and the others guys and got me interest in their HEA.

So for this 150+ pages novella I wanted to write a goddamn eassy in form of a review 🤐

It pains me to rate my favourite author's book this low but I can't be dishonest and I am not the person who would sugarcoat things just because L.J is my favourite author

I am so angry rn
I Don't know if it is worth my Energy or time, so lets not go there, because I've too many issues

lets just say if you are not desperate enough to read more about Vic and Em then don't bother

Anyway I picked it up after 1 month of reading Pretty Reckless
Tbh Not For a second I thought about what
Miss Teacher of the Century did there in Pretty Reckless with her
wanna be philanthropist tactics

and not to mention how she treated her offsprings

Yikes 🤧 but still somehow she successfully managed to create even MORE worse reputation here, She is good for nothing 🤣

√Worst teacher
√Worst Parent
√ Worst Foster Mom

She is the most cringy not Just a woman but human Being ever period

FGS I just finished reading about Lucy Hutton
from The Hating Game 😍 How can I digest this so called female protagonist Melody 🙄

Ewwww I Don't wanna promote female protagonist like her 🤢

Whatever
1 point is for My love Vicious 😢😭 his cameos OMG yes!! The only Reason I read the whole damn thing
And second point Jamie Dornan oppssss Followhill 😉 sure this dude has his way with words 💣 I'll give him that

I am a big fan of L.J. Shen's work and so I loved reading the "Sinners of Saint" series. In light of her new series 'All Saints High" almost coming out, I figured I would do a re-read of all the books so everything is fresh in my mind. Now imagine my surprise (read: shock) when I found out I never read Jamie's story !!! I just don't understand how this happened !!

in shock gif - Google zoeken

Of course, when I found out (a few hours ago), I put everything else aside and fixed the error of my ways... Normally I would be thankful this was a short story, but we are talking "HotHoles" here and so I was just sad when I was finished so soon.

Since I already read every book in this series, I knew exactly who Jaime was and that Melody was his former teacher. I was so happy to finally find out how they got together...better late than never ;)

finally gif - Google zoeken

It was sooo good. Melody is a 26-year-old English Lit teacher at All Saints High. This makes her 8 years older than the "Hotholes", who are all in one of her classes. And somewhere along the way she has caught the attention of one of them specifically... Jamie ...7e6c22cc4c29adb0f4a619d0806b71f1

Melody isn't really happy with her job. She is trying to teach a bunch of privileged kids, who make it a mission not to listen to anything she says. To make matters worse, the principal of the school, who is also Jamie's mother, is a cold-hearted bitch seemingly trying to get her fired. Not that being a teacher was ever her dreamjob...she wanted to be a dancer, but life isn't always fair.

You know what also isn't fair....One of your students trying to blackmail you for sex because you wrecked his car 9f01372377900d9203bc4efe48eb1659 Jamie makes it perfectly clear what it is he wants from Melody. I just don't think it really classifies as blackmail ...since she seems to want it just as much.

17892486.gif (500×206)

I loved these two. This book was definitely a bit on the lighter side compared to all the others. Melody's inner voice was hilarious and she really is "my kind of girl". I can understand why Jamie wanted her so badly. That said...Jamie was pretty freaking awesome himself !!

I can't wait for "Pretty Reckless" to get here. I know Daria is gonna be the heroine and she is Jamie and Melody's daughter. I am sure she will be just as awesome as her parents.

Highly recommended

Well this was SOMETHING. When I went to rate Vicious and saw that this prequel existed, I obviously had to check it out bc I was intrigued by how the teacher/student relationship would be handled. In all fairness, I got exactly what I expected to get going in. The student was 18 so ~*everything was legal*~ but I can't lie and say that this didn't feel mega predatory. But again, I knew what was coming so I really only have myself to blame???? If you're into the taboo age-gap thing you'll probably really enjoy this one but I do not recommend if you feel at all otherwise 😅

This one worked. Every aspect of the "forbidden" relationship was written perfectly. Ever since reading Sparrow, I've come to realize LJ's writing style works for me. There's hardly any flowery prose and the Hs are usually Alphas with a capital A!

From reading the blurb I knew what to expect, I got much more however, and the story- as short as it was- never felt contrived or lacking.

Jamie is 18, a senior in high school while Melody at 26, is his- almost inept- teacher. Jamie was cocky (18, rich and good looking. Who could blame him?) and self-assured but was never an asshat. He fell for Melody, waited to make his move and once he did, things got heated quickly. Sure they had some missteps along the way but they get a HEA and then some. Additionally, I liked how LJ gave us more insight into Vicious. All in all, a fab read. Highly recommend!

"Doing this was almost begging to get caught."
description

Defy is by far the sexiest forbidden romance novella that has ever graced my Kindle. When instant attraction, lust, love, money, and power all combine into one unstoppable force, you know you are in for one unforgettable ride.

description
"I like the chase. You make me sweat somewhere besides a football field. Turns out...that's the exercise I've been looking for."
Melody Greene is a young teacher who has found herself in the heart of an affluent community full of sexually charged hot young men. Despite her best efforts to stay on the straight and narrow, she has attracted the attention of one of her students. Jaime Followhill is one of the infamous HotHoles. Jaime is no stranger to getting what he wants, and he wants Melody. When the teacher and student find themselves alone together, the lines are quickly blurred, and the attraction between them quickly transforms into a lasting love.

description
"It's still forbidden."
Told in dual POV, Defy is utter perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed the sexy banter between Melody and Jaime. The stakes are high as they fall more in love with each other. The supporting characters enhance the plot as the HotHoles establish their ruthless reputation at the school and in the community. Melody is a perfect match for Jaime. The teacher/student trope is not normally my favorite forbidden romance pick, and yet, I am completely captivated by the characters, conflicts, and every single passionate moment in Defy. I am so thoroughly in love with Jaime and Melody, and their romance is one that I will never forget! This novella is just one sweet taste of the plot, characters, and relationships in this series and I cannot wait for more of this world! With this author, more greatness is sure to follow!

description

Overall, Defy is an absolute must read for any contemporary romance lover who is in the mood for a fantastic forbidden romance. L.J. Shen is by far one of my favorite authors with her natural writing style, damaged heroes, and strong and sassy heroines, when she is writing, my Kindle and I are ready and waiting! Don't waste another minute...read this sexy novella right now!!!!

If you’re a fan of student-teacher romance, like myself, you NEED to read this prequel.

Ever since reading Vicious I have been in love with the HotHoles. Getting my hands on Defy was just the icing on the cake.

When Jamie and Melody were mentioned in Vicious I perked up. A younger student married to his teacher? Call me intrigued!!

Defy was the prequel to Vicious and gave a little more detail and insight into the group's dynamic. No wonder they were still the best of friends as adults, the great length they went to, to get things done in retaliation was mind boggling.

There were 8 years between Melody and Jamie, but that age gap was inconsequential. Jamie was very mature for his age and had seen and done things in his life that would make grown-up men pee their pants.

I loved the idea of Mel and Jamie together. They were a wonderful couple. They found in each other what was otherwise missing in their life. Even so it was a case of insta-lust, Jamie had his eyes on his teacher ever since the very first day of senior year. They got together a few month before the end of senior year but Mel had been very aware of him from the very beginning. When it finally came to them taking the first step, they both pretty much said "screw it" and enjoyed their time together, ignoring all consequences and possible repercussions.

I adored that about Mel and Jamie. They went after what they wanted wholeheartedly, neither cared much about what others might say or think, and when it came to standing up for the other, they did!!

Now, after reading Defy and Vicious, I can't wait to read Dean and Trend's story. I fell in love with this group of privileged high-schoolers that ruled their town with an iron fist. And L.J. Shen has a spot on my very short auto-buy list.

Oh wow! Jaime was crazy hot. Emphasis on him being a little loco. But his cray cray was hot too lol! What is in the water in Todos Santos that has created such fine specimens of manliness??? I honestly couldn't get enough of Jaime. Even though the story is told primarily from Melody's perspective, I was anxiously waiting to see what he would say or do next.

After a failed career as a ballet dancer, Melody finds herself teaching at a high school for the extra privileged. At 26 years old, she's not completely sure what she wants to do with herself, but she knows she isn't destined to teach. Jaime is her 18 year old student and she's as drawn to him as he is to her. He's far from the average high school student. Frankly, he was ALL man. I found him more than man enough to give Melody EXACTLY what she needed. *wink*

As described, this was a smutty, insta-lust and insta-love novella. Jaime was incredibly inappropriate and hella sexy while Melody was absolutely adorable with a witty dialogue. I especially loved the epilogues and I can't wait to continue the series with Ruckus.

Pardon my language but L.J. Shen has written one of the hottest student teacher forbidden romance that I have read this year. In this sexy and steamy novella, she introduces readers to Melody Greene, a newly acquired teacher at an elite private high school and her hot sizzling forbidden romance with a student that is eight years younger than her.

#Defy2

Melody loved to dance but when an unforeseen accident derailed her dream, she is left with the only option of being a teacher. With bills piling up, Melody’s financial are very tight so she needs this teaching job. When Jaime, a high school senior sort of blackmails Melody, she is in a rude awakening when this student informs her that he wants to do filthy and sexual things to her. Melody should be alarmed by Jaime, since he is the son of the Principal but she agrees to his after school lesson of foreplay and orgasms.

photo 51da02e4f94f03d859b092fd212e35_zpscbse1urs.gif “He opened my mouth with his tongue and devoured me like I was his fucking last meal. His tongue attacked mine, owning my mouth, licking every part and swallowing my needy grunts.”

Jaime and Melody both laid out the rules of their secret liaison, that this thing between them stays between them and it ends the minute he graduates. Well, it didn’t take long for either Melody and Jaime to develop feelings for one another. Melody is well aware that she slept with her student but she loved it. She loved this sexual awakening that Jaime ignited in her. But what happens when Jaime’s mom discovers this secret affair? Will Melody defy others whom may consider their relationship wrong and follow her heart?

#Defy0 (1)

photo 51da02e4f94f03d859b092fd212e35_zpscbse1urs.gif “I wanted him to kiss me. Kiss me hard and soft all at once, a kiss that’d assure me that I wasn’t crazy for discovering what I’d just discovered on this tattered sofa in this tiny apartment. That I was in love with my student.”

#Defy1

Defy was a fun, sexy, and steamy novella that pushes the boundaries of love and defiance. This forbidden morsel was layered with seduction and grittiness that I didn’t want their story to end. As much as I loved reading about Jaime and Melody’s secret affair, I loved that L.J. Shen was able to introduce Viscous, a secondary character that will be getting his own book next. I seriously can’t wait for his book. But in the meantime, if you are looking for a hot, seductive, and titillating forbidden romance that was both naughty and nice then this novella is definitively for you.

DEFY: Holy Heck this was Hot!! If I wasn't hooked on this series before I sure am now!! These boys just get dirtier, hotter, off the rails panty wetting hot!! This here pretty much sums it all up!! Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. and it pretty much lived up to its name!! I just wish it was longer because I devoured this, chocked on it, inhaled it, loved it.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic My cock will only have two homes. Your mouth and your pussy. Ass, too, if you're feeling adventurous.

I had to tell myself a few times whilst reading this that James was only eighteen, because I shit you not this guy had the most sexual potty mouth I've encountered * fans face* Move over Christian Grey and make way for James you've just been schooled in the art of seduction by an eighteen year old HotHole.

L.J. Shen gets right up in your face with the most hottest student teacher forbidden romance to date that I have read!! She doesn't hold back!! It's raw, it's hot, and off the scales sexy.

Twenty-six year Melody's true passion in life was dance, she lived, breathed it, loved it until a unforeseen circumstance made her have to give it up and seek out a teaching job which she wasn't really all that passionate about but with mounting bills piling up what else was a girl to do.

When eighteen year old Jaime, a high school senior at All Saints where she teaches sort of blackmails Melody into stepping into the forbidden she thinks less of the repercussions of getting caught to sleeping with a student who happens to be the Principal's son to taking that step into unknown territory, she'd heard the rumors, but man oh man what this boy could do with his tongue was sinful!!

Straight from the get go this was only mean't to be a short lived fling, nothing more, nothing less. So a deadline was set in concrete. Once the school year ended so did they. But with the secret meetings, the sleepovers, the texting things progressed further than either of them thought it would. It only took six blissful weeks before Jaime not only claimed her body but had stolen her heart in the process.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I'd tried to convince myself that it was just sex. It wasn't. It was pizza nights and laughing under my cheap itchy blanket and nicknaming each other stupid names. I was little Ballerina, while he was Giraffe tongue, for reasons that gave me countless orgasms.

This was a super, hot, short sexy read, if you love taking a step into the world of the forbidden genre between a student and teacher then I highly recommend this.

The story was, of course, just as amazing as it was the first time I read it. I can't say I was a huge fan of the narrator though. Honestly if it wasn't only a 3 hour book I probably would have given up on it since I couldn't really get on board with her telling of the story.

I am a huge fan of teacher-student romances, but I've never actually read one where it was the Hero that was the student. I really liked the change LJ Shen delivered with this one by giving us a hot female teacher.

Jaime may have been in high school but he was far from an inexperienced boy. Oh no, this Hero was a shameless dirty talker that will have you biting your lip and gripping your Kindle tight. I loved seeing him and Melody together and even though it was a short book full of a lot of sexy scenes, there were still plenty of sweet moments between them.

Bottom line, this book is a must read for everyone that hasn't met this couple yet. This author definitely knows how to keep readers on their toes, and I can't wait to see what she brings us from this group next.

I actually really enjoyed Defy ! It was so passionate and intense and HOT! This story was about a forbidden love involving an age difference. It was about a student and teacher falling head-over-heels in love. The teacher was female and there was an 8 year age gap between the two characters. I liked Melody and Jamie and the way their relationship developed. I was also glad that Vicious made an appearance as well!!

It was wrong, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like how wrong it felt. Whether I was corrupting or being corrupted...I loved how it made me feel. ~ Melody

Defy had everything I love in a book … the illicit thrill of the affair, amazing chemistry and hot scenes. There was some angst and drama, but it was balanced nicely with humorous banter and some memorable characters. The stress of whether or not Melody and Jamie would get caught was killing me. I certainly was rooting for them. Melody and Jamie made the perfect couple. I absolutely loved their chemistry. In the end, they got their happily ever after. And I couldn't be happier about how their story ended.

The author’s narrative was fun, witty and touching. The character development, the back stories, the relationships, the love, the sex, it all just spoke to me. This was a wonderful story of two people who didn't want to find love but love found them. Anyone who loves a good romance with a lot of steam … this is a book for you to read. Funny and hard to put down once you start.

In short:
Hero 4/5 | Heroine 4/5 | Plot (Point, Originality) 4/5 | Writing Style 4/5 | Steam 4/5 | Romance 4/5 | Angst-Suspense 4/5 | Darkness 0/5 | Humor 4/5 | Secondary Characters 4/5 | Drama-Conflict 4/5 | Mystery 0/5 | Twists 4/5 | Pacing Steady | Action 3/5

^^^This is me, throwing all my reservations up in the air. It was helpful going into this novella knowing it was smutty fun with instalove/instalust because I knew what was to come.

Defy is a prequel novella to Vicious centering on the teacher/student affair between Melody and her student Jaime. Melody hates her job at an elite high school, and her boss the principal seems to hate her too. One day Jaime accidentally crashes into Jaime's car, and from that encounter he makes it clear that his sights are set on Melody.

What ensues is a hot lusty romance that's a lot of fun to read. I had seen a little bit of this couple in the book Vicious and wanted to know more about their story, so I was very much satisfied with this novella written for them.

I cannot wait to read more about the rest of the Hotholes!

OMG! I couldn't believe it! After the failed attempt of Sparrow and Blood to Dust, LJ Shen finally ruined me. I have the most major hangover for this bad boy. A forbidden love story between teacher-student is already mainstream, but I don't suspect this to be engaging and addictive.
... you’re so fucked. Luckily for you, you’re about to get fucked even harder.

Melody Greene works as a teacher in All Saints High where the rich kids with money power. An accident happened and crushed her dream as a ballerina. Now, she hates her job but need to survive. Damn, I love this girl! She has girl power and sassy mouth. Melody doesn't affect with their money. But James Charles Followhill III aka Jaime was an anomaly she didn't expect. Melody avoid him at all cost until the 'blackmail' arrived. She couldn't ignore her lust towards him.

description

As one of the most powerful in Todos Santos, Jaime could get any woman he wants, but his eyes only for the teacher. Melody doesn't sway with money and power and that what makes Jaime likes her. Jaime also one of The Four Hotholes, but he isn't the baddest. He's more laid-back kind of person. Cool. He cares about Melody and help her a lot. I like Jaime so much! Even he has bad boy aura, his action swoon me. Romantic much?

description

A forbidden affair never felt this good. No bullshit, no drama. Sadly, this is only a novella. They're so HOT together with intense chemistry. The dirty talk. The sexy shenanigans. The multiple orgasms. After all the Jaime's confessions, it was very clear he's fallen for her. Melody is really the one for him and he will do anything for her. In the end, Jaime left his parents and the richness to live with Melody. His action louder than words. I really loved this kind of man. Overall, I was satisfied with Jaime's story also the epilogue as bonus. Freakin' excited for the rest of Hotholes
“Is it true that you will always be mine?”
“It’s a truth. And sometimes, when you piss me off, it’s a dare. But it’s my life, and you’re a part of it. Always and forever.”

Well! That was hot and entertaining. Too short though.

I liked Jamie and Mel alot! How the hell did these two raise such a mean daughter? They are freaking sweet and loyal.

Anyhoo... I am going straight to Vicious's book. It better be good. Because that wall of a man got my attention.

This author just keeps getting better an better

This is seriously hot an I luvd every bit of it this student and teacher forbidden story is just great I m not really a huge fan of student and teacher books but I couldn't get enough of this the story was full of drama I can't believe how much the author got into this book cause really there was so much that happened in it

Melody and Jamie's characters r really good I liked how Jamie pushed himself into Melody's live an she didn't really have much of a say i know there is a an age gap but it didn't really matter Jamie didnt really seem like an normal 18 year old to b honest an neither did the other Hotholes they held power in there town so they seemed a lot older then they were everyone of them so when Jamie wanted Melody she didn't really stand a chance an after spending some time with him she wanted him just as much

I m delighted I read this these Hotholes have me very curious and know I can't wait to read Vicious this guy as me dyin to know more about him after getting a lil bit of his moody scary characters I hope I don't have to wait long but I would read this book before Vicious so u get an idea about what's goin on an u won't b disappointed this is a really great start to this series xxx

After reading Vicious, I just HAD to read about Jaimie and Melody's taboo relationship. This was short, sexy and oh so satisfying! I'm honestly not big on teacher x student romances and cringed when I had to one-click a whole anthology of this genre (Hot for Teacher Anthology: Nineteen Stories Filled with Love and Lust) just to read this short nugget of hotness *still cringing*.

But some of the other authors blurbs in this Hot for Teacher Anthology have sparked my interests so I guess I have opened up my box of tropes to include teacher taboos (pun intended). Guess I'll need to start on it soon...

Told only in h's first person POV and can be read before or after book #1 Vicious. Can also be read as a standalone. Less angstier than Vicious because the hero isn't as much of an asshole, but is still an obsessed stalker.

I wish this were a 300-page novel instead of a novella...

Normally I never prefer to read a novella as they do not satisfy me at all. They make me feel as if chapters of a long novel have been torn apart and I am reading what is left. Things happen too quickly, there is not enough depth to the characters etc. But I had to read this because it was about one of the HotHoles of Saint High! Having fallen in love with VICIOUS, I had to read about his friend Jamie.

Although Ms. Shen writes very skilfully and beautifully, the whole thing feels just “not enough”. I couldn’t get enough of the lovely couple. The taste of it still lingers with me but it was not enough at all. I am used to long novels.

I loved the couple and the plot line. I just didn't like how their relationship started.

This is the hot and interesting story of Jamie and his literature teacher, Melody, who is 8 years older than him.

The story is told by Melanie, only. I don’t mind the age difference and here especially, the age difference is not felt at all because, in all his physical glory and alpha character, Jamie sounds like a man rather than an 18-year-old boy.

Some nice quotes from it:

One of the sexiest guys at school…stalked me. Why did I have to be a teacher? Shit like that never happened when I was a student!

***

“Ms. Greene...” His forehead and nose crushed into mine, both our eyes still wide and exploring. Our chests panted against one another. “This...” His hand dunked under my dress and between my thighs. His index finger traveled along my wet slit through the fabric of my cotton underwear, poking-not pushing, in a torturous tease. “Is mine until school ends. I will eat it, fuck it, play with it, and sleep in it if I want to. And I want to. I wanna do all those things to you.”

***

So lost. So confused. So fucking mine. Owning someone has never felt this good.

***

That’s the problem with society. It cares too much about who you fall in love with but never about the why . The why matters, people. The who is irrelevant.

By the way, there were glimpses of the young VICIOUS...
Here is one of them:

I sometimes wondered if Vicious’s parents conceived him on Hitler’s tombstone or if his mom had a freak accident involving poison and voodoo while she was pregnant.
He was too scary for a teenager.
Too dangerous for someone who grew up in presumptuous suburbia.
Too dead for a living human.

I usually roll my eyes on "insta-love" stuff BUT I fuckin dig "insta lust" and this is LJ Shen, we are talking about...nuf said

But this was actually a very compact story for a novella and a damn fine little number of hotness...I'll give you that!

Fantastic introduction into series, even though i've read it backwards, reading book 1 Vicious before this gem...

Loved the characters, both James/Jamie and Melody/Mel...there was a little bit of everything in it, angst, steam, forbidden, touchy-feely stuff and it was all so nicely wrapped up into LJ Shen's distinguished writing style!

Bravo!

I only wish this was in fact a full blooded novel!

DNF at 70%. Lol this was all kinds of terrible!

You should only read this if you like: teacher-student relationships, taboo relationships, blackmail, insta-love, hot sex, erotica, dominant hero, doormat heroines, stalker, possessive hero.

I mean, I'm not one to point fingers since I did pick up this book knowing its trashy premise. And yet, somehow I'm still appalled? I get forbidden romance is a thing. Normally, that would be totally up my alley. I'm all about the whole secret meetings, and passionate makeout sessions. All the angst to be mined from two people who want to be together and can't? Sign me up for that shit. I have weird taste in romance so who am I to say anything about people's kinks.

SPOILERS up ahead. Read at your own risk.

But man, this book crosses over from fantasy to delusional wish fulfillment. Seriously, in what universe is sleeping with your student OK? Making him an 18 year old stud who dominates the hell out of the teacher does not make it OK. But never mind that she's sleeping with her student, that's not even the most fucked up thing in this book. No that would be the author's idea of what constitutes love and dating. Never mind that your protagonist is sleeping with her student. But for a grown ass woman to decide after banging him a couple of times that, hey. I'm in love with this child. This is what the hole in my heart has been all along? Wow. You know its true love when a manchild makes you whole, gives you purpose in life and validates your existence. Because that's literally how love or healthy relationships work.

Not to mention the whole thing with the student actually stalking his teacher? Honey, I don't know about you but if the guy I'm sleeping with tells me he's been obsessed with me for the better part of the year, going so far as to stalk me everywhere I go and then try to peek through my bedroom window when I'm at home??? I would get the fuck away from that creep! I would pack my bags and run. And call the police. Because stalking isn't romantic. It sure as hell isn't a declaration of love. Have you not seen the movie The Boy Next Door? This kind of obsessive shit only ends up in murder!

Ugh! This book just pisses me off so much! And its not even that the plot (LOL what plot) or characters are shitty. But because this is what passes for good contemporary romance. L.J. Shen is heralded as one of the bestselling authors of contemporary romances. From the ratings on this book and the others in this series, she's pretty popular. So it gals me that women, young women, would buy something like this and think this is what romance is supposed to be all about. That obsessive, stalkery behavior like this is OK, even romantic. It terrifies me that people would read this and hold boys to this kind of standard. I'm disgusted by this book.

Defy managed to defy my expectations! It’s beyond great!

The blurb sums the book up well. It’s a short, sexy, insta-love novella that’s also a bit taboo.
Novellas aren’t typically my thing. I’m so greedy, I always crave more. However, this one really hit the spot. Defy works well within the constraints of the length. It definitely served its purpose well and made me crave more of these characters.

Here’s the breakdown: 26-year-old Melody Greene has a difficult job teaching wealthy privileged high school seniors. She had to give up her dream of becoming a ballerina after an unfortunate accident. She hates her job and her boss. 18 year old Jaime Followhill is one of her students. He pursues a romantic relationship with her. She tries, unsuccessfully to deny his advances, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

 photo Defy.jpg

Here’s what I absolutely loved: I’m so totally head over heels in love with Jaime. Do I really believe an 18-year man-child could possibly be this sexy? Probably not, but what do I know. Ultimately, that didn’t matter because I LOVE him. He’s caring, possessive, and made his feelings transparent. That’s total BBF material for me.
Vicious – Yep, totally loved seeing him from Mel’s perspective. Any glimpse of him is worth the price of admission! LOL
The story – For a novella, this book is fleshed out well. The relationship development and insight into what motivates Melody and Jaime was impressive. Did I want more? Absolutely. See above note about my greedy tendencies. However, I’m very impressed that I was able to see some relationship development between Jaime and Mel.

I highly recommend this series!

OK, I'll admit it, I read Vicious first, and was so very interested in Jaime's story. So when I had the opportunity to get my hands on Defy, I immediately one-clicked it and as soon as I had time I devoured this novella in one sitting!

Since I read Vicious first, I already knew how Jaime and Mel's story was going to end up, but that didn't stop me from wanting to see how these two ended up. Jaime is a cocky senior and one of the Hotholes. He can do whatever he wants and he knows it. Mel is his teacher and has had her dreams ruined. She wants nothing to do with teaching, but with her lifelong dream of being a dancer down the drain, she's stuck in a job she hates and is about to lose. When Jaime propositions her, she knows its wrong, but there's something about him, and she just can't say no.

These two are so wrong for one another, yet so right. Their relationship is forbidden, yet they can't stay away from one another. You know it's wrong, yet you can't stop rooting for these two. They bring out the best in one another. I adored these two together and how real they were with one another. Mel seems to bring out the good in Jaime, even though he is still bad. She can't control him, but she gets him, and he pushes her to follow her dreams.

This was a quick read that gives you everything you could ask for! Sex, drama, forbidden love, and so much hotness your kindle will feel like it's going to catch on fire! If you've read Vicious, or if you haven't, and are wanting some sexiness and forbidden romance, definitely one-click this novella today, you won't regret it!

So, I've seen lots of love for the newly released Vicious by L.J. Shen. When reading more about Vicious I noticed there was a short novella that was released prior. In the blurb it was recommended, but not required, to read Defy first. After some searching I finally found it and decided to check it out. If you like the taboo teacher-student reads, then definitely give this one a go.

Melody Greene is a twenty six year old high school teacher. It's not her dream job by any means. She was supposed to be a dancer, but an injury forced her to take a teaching job instead. Most of the time the kids are loud and disrespectful making her hate the job even more, but when she accidentally backs into the Principal's son's car her world changes completely.

Instead of her having to fix Jaime's car, he pretends it was his fault and ends up taking the blame, but there is a cost to Melody...sorta. Jaime has just tuned eighteen and the school year is almost over, but before he graduates he has one thing on his list he wants to do...his teacher. He makes it known to Melody and because of an insane attraction she has towards him she doesn't say no, especially when Jaime starts dirty talking. They both agree that their affair will only last until school is out, but love isn't always so simple.

In this book, I did meet Vicious and learn he is very arrogant. I can't wait to read his story next.
