Man rapes, kills, puts in sack teen GF in CDO —police

A 21-year-old man allegedly raped, killed, and left his 17-year-old girlfriend in a sack at a vacant lot at Barangay Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City out of jealousy.

According to a report by Chino Gaston on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, Ric Jan Sumalpong Polinar and Jerra May Lumacang, 17, were drinking with friends after a New Year's Eve party.

Polinar became jealous when he discovered that their drinking companions previously had relationships with Lumacang. The couple was tasked to buy more alcohol and on the way back from the store, Polinar dragged Lumacang to a vacant lot and raped her.

"Dun na nangyari yung rape sa biktima. Tapos pag-rape, saka na niya pinukpok ng martilyo at isinusulod sa sako," P/Insp. Edgar Villanueva, Macabalan Police Station 5 Deputy Commander, said.

Lumacong's remains was decomposing in the lot on Tuesday without any clothing in the lower half of her body.

Police took the body of Lumacong, her clothes, and a hammer found near the victim to the crime laboratory for examination.

Polinar was positively identified by a witness after he was taken in by police in a follow-up operation. He was charged with rape with homicide. —Anna Felicia Bajo/JST, GMA News
