His body count is now up to three dogs.
A former Georgia school police officer, already accused of killing a K-9 by leaving it to die in a hot car and fatally shooting another dog, now has to answer for a third pooch found dead in his home, forensic veterinarians revealed.
Officials believe the third dog, a 10-year-old Belgian Malinois, is the grandmother of Inca, the K-9 Daniel Peabody allegedly killed by heatstroke after trapping him in a car on a 90-degree day in June.
The Cherokee County Marshal’s Office said the third dog was likely killed by a gunshot, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Evidence showed that Dale, a yellow lab assigned to Peabody in 2007, was also killed by a fatal shooting in 2012, the marshal’s office said.
Peabody claimed the pup died from “choking on a toy” at the time, shortly after retiring from the force, the marshal’s office said.
The alleged dog-slayer was arrested on June 22, and charged with felony animal cruelty, as well as making false statements to investigators. He is being held on a $22,400 bond.
The investigation continues, as investigators look to see if Peabody is behind any more dead dogs.
