Future's Self-Titled Album Goes Gold

  /  05.05.2017

Just one day after Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. was certified platinum, Future’s self-titled album goes gold.

The Freeband rapper’s fifth studio LP, which spawned the top 5 hit “Mask Off,” has moved 500,000 units since its Feb. 17 release, earning him a gold plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Future’s label, Epic Records, celebrated the news. “@1future has earned his FIFTH RIAA Album Award! #FUTURE is now Gold!” they tweeted.

As noted, Future now has five RIAA Album Awards. Prior to FUTURE, he earned gold with 2012’s Pluto, 2014’s Honest, and 2016’s EVOL, while 2015’s DS2 was certified platinum.

In March, Future made history by becoming the first artist to earn back-to-back No. 1 debuts in consecutive weeks, with FUTURE and HNDRXX. The latter opened with 121,000 equivalent album units.

Future is currently on his “Nobody Safe Tour” with Migos, Tory Lanez, and A$AP Ferg, which kicked off last night in Memphis.
