Twin Villages elect selectmen, other officials

In an election of low turnout, both Damariscotta and Newcastle approved the state bond issue for technology jobs. Newcastle voted to approve it 132 33; Damariscotta, 168-57.

The Twin Villages also approved a joint shellfish warden. Damariscotta had approved it administratively, and Newcastle voted for it, 147 - 0.

In Damariscotta, George Parker won reelection to the select board with 82 votes. The second seat was a write-in vote, replacing Selectman James Cosgrove, who chose to leave the board. Amy Leshure was the top write-in, with eight votes. Angela Russ was elected to the school board; John Gallagher was elected Sanitary District Trustee.

In Newcastle, Carolyn Hatch and Ben Frey will be return as selectmen, and Mark Doe will serve on the school board. Both towns also validated the school budgets.
