Are you Knitting Along?

Adorable Ewe, Michelle Hunter's April Mystery KAL has begun!

If you haven't already heard, the project is an adorable sweater sized to fit a 6 month baby.

You can find the complete project details and supply list HERE at Michelle's Knit Purl Hunter website.

Knit-along with Kristen as she works the mystery to create a shop sample. You can track your progress and get help on Mondays and Fridays.

Adorable Ewe Supply List:
  • Yarn - Simpliworsted by HiKoo, 55% merino uperwash, 28% acrylic, 17% nylon, 100g/140 yards. 
    • 2 skeins Main Color
    • 1 skein sheep color - white (001) or natural (003)
    • 1 skein sheep accent color - black (002) or grey (037 or 038)
  • Needles
    • US 9 (5.5mm) 24" circular or straights OR size needed to achieve gauge
    • US 8 (5.0mm) 32" circular needle  (If larger needle size is adjusted, this needle should be one size smaller than adjusted size)
  • Notions - Four 5/8" buttons, in one style. Samples pictured are:
    • White lamb (pictured on the blue yarn)

Build your colorwork skills, starting in June

Building in Color is a skill-building series that uses three contrasting colors to knit 10 beautiful panels (or strips), one panel each month, to learn new stitches and colorwork techniques.
Our next Building in Color series with Michelle Hunter begins on Tuesday, June 13, 2017. We have two sessions available: 2:00pm-4:00pm OR 6:00pm-8:00pm. Space is limited for this series and filled on a first-come first-served basis.

BEGINNING KNITTING 101
Class fee: $30 - yarn and needles provided
Instructional handout: $4 + tax
One 2-hour class
Skill level: Beginner Knit
 
As the name implies, Knitting 101 is for the Complete and Utter beginner! In this single class, learn the knitting basics of how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. We supply the needles and yarn to learn and practice in class. By the end, you will the necessary skills to make a simple project on your own.
 
Wednesday, April 19, 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Saturday, May 13, 10:30am - 12:30pm
 


BEGINNING CROCHET
Class fee: $30 - yarn provided; hook extra 
One 2-hour class

Instructor: Meghan Kizer
Skill level: Beginner Crochet

Learn chain stitches, half double and double crochet, and triple crochet. Note: Crochet is an incredibly useful skill for knitters - consider bringing the power of the crochet hook to your knitting projects!

We provide the yarn. Students need to bring/purchase a crochet hook size US G (4 mm) or US H (5 mm).

KNITTING 102 
Class fee: $80 - yarn provided; other supplies extra
Three 2-hour classes
Skill level: Easy Knit

This class is designed to expand on the knitting fundamentals learned in Beginning Knitting. Successful participants need to be able to execute on their own the knitting fundamentals:
  • knit and purl stitches
  • long-tail and/or knitted cast on
  • standard bind-off
To expand on these fundamentals, you will learn new concepts including gauge, new stitch types, stitch patterns, choosing yarn and needles for projects, basic shaping stitches, and finally, a brief introduction to circular knitting.

Between class sessions, you will work on homework swatches and small items to reinforce concepts learned in class. 
 
We provide the yarn. Students need to bring/purchase 24" circular needles in sizes US 6 and US 8. 
 
There is no pre-work for this class, but there is homework between classes, so please plan accordingly.

Thursdays, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, on: 
Class 1: April 20 
Class 2: May 4 
Class 3: May 18

Wednesdays, 6:30pm - 8:30pm, on:
Class 1: May 31
Class 2: June 14
Class 3: June 28 



BEGINNING SOCK
Class fee: $75 - supplies extra
Pattern: $6 + tax 
Three 2-hour classes 
Skill level: Easy Knit

Learn to make a classic top down sock in the round using the Magic Loop method. Students must be comfortable knitting and purling. Learn numerous sock techniques including: magic loop, classic heel, left and right leaning decreases, and kitchener stitch. Each of these skills is applicable to many other knitting projects. 
 
Supplies needed:
  • Yarn: approximately 400 yards of fingering-weight. Note on yarn: Sock stitches are small and show up best in LIGHT colors.
  • Needles: 32" circular in size US 1
  • Tapestry needle
There is no pre-work for this class, but there is homework between classes, so please plan accordingly.

FIXING MISTAKES
Class fee: $30 - yarn provided; other supplies extra 
One 2-hour class 
Instructor: Meghan Kizer 
Skill level: Beginner Knit

Do you feel like you are constantly making mistakes in your projects? Join Meghan in this class to learn more about the most common mistakes knitters make, and how you can fix, and better yet, PREVENT them!

You will make a swatch into which you will purposely knit mistakes so you see how they happen and how you can fix them. You will also learn how to use lifelines, "tink"ing (unknitting stitches), and ripping back rows.

Yarn will be provided to work with in class. Other supplies needed:
  • Size US 8 needles
  • Small (US D to F) crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
