Two gangs in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai have stirred up the streets as they battled out in a rough confrontation to resolve conflict, with one man having his arm cut off.

A video was uploaded to social media on Saturday night, showing dozens of young men forming two gangs yelling at, pursuing, and attacking one another with machetes and bricks.

The five-minute footage was filmed by a by-stander on Vo Thi Sau Street in Thong Nhat Ward, Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai.

The video clip showed one of the gang members being injured while a sword and a motorbike were left on the roadway.

It gathered some 6,000 shares and thousands of comments, most of which expressed Internet users’ concern over the aggressiveness of the men.

A probe by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper indicated that at least two men were severely wounded in the clash, of whom one had his left arm severed and his knee seriously injured.

According to T., a security guard at a diner on Vo Thi Sau Street, he heard the loud yells at around 9:00 pm on Saturday, before seeing two gangs, each consisting of about 15 members, throwing bricks at each other.

Three men then hid in the diner while tightly holding machetes, T. continued.

About 10 minutes later, the two groups fled the scene as police arrived and captured some of the members, confiscating many weapons.

At the police station, Nguyen Chi Hiep, 17, claimed that his gang of about 10 men rented a seven-seater car to an area near the Dong Tram Bridge to resolve their conflict with another group.

Hiep’s team was ambushed upon their arrival at the location by several men armed with knives and swords.

Hiep and his gang fought back, resulting in the violence on the street.

Police officers carried out an investigation on Vo Thi Sau Street and spotted some bricks and bloodstains on the roadway and sidewalk as of 10:00 pm the same day. A further probe is underway.
