I installed this on my HP-Omen gamin g laptop. This drive is very affordable, I was hooked on SSD tech, when i had my Lite-On 128gb SSD installed, tried one game installed on the drive and OMG, Zero Load Times!!! I bench marked this drive and it came in around 1200MB/s Read and 800MB/s write, impressive as that was, I now needed a bigger NMVe SSD m.2 for ALL my games, I did some research, found this one and the Samsung EVO 970, both fairly equal in online specs, except the WD SSD drive was cheaper. I decided to go with the WD Black SSD for the price vs specs, well the box said this drive can get up to 3500MB/s Read and 2800MB/s write speeds, Well i Installed the WD Black SSD in under 10 mins, it took about 30 mins to load and install Windows and Drivers again, flawlessly, I used a Western Digital 256GB SSD Portable Drive, with my thunderbolt 3(USB Type-C) equally impressive for its size and purpose to back up and restore to my New SSD NVMe drive. Games installed and OMFG the increased performance is AMAZING! I did a Benchmark on the new WD BLACK SSD and for my specific laptop, I am getting over 2400MB/s Read and write times, I am so impressed with the noticeable performance increase!! I highly recommend this SSD for any PC/Laptop!! 5 stars all the way!!!

I love this drive and find new and interesting tidbits about it all the time. I give it a five for performance and value.

However, I had my first drive for a week and couldn't figure out why the Western Digital SSD Dashboard was saying the remaining life of my drive was 95%. My testing/benchmarking had been limited and nothing strange occurred during the setup/configuration of it.

Prime Member's Day occurred 5 days after I bought the 1tb version. The savings was $70 so I called Amazon and they wouldn't budge on giving me credit but the CS rep recommended I just return the old one and buy a new one, especially after I said something didn't seem right with the life remaining of the drive. The new drive was very low in reads/writes and the dashboard says it has 100% life left.

So I presume someone returned my first drive and Amazon restocked it then sent it to me; bad on Amazon for restocking a SSD drive. The cummulative data written and read was showing 32TB. I was researching the first drive after install and thought it was strange but watched it as I was testing and noticed it wasn't dramatically increasing when I was running benchmarks. I thought it was just part of initial factory burn in.

Upon receiving this new drive, the total Read/Writes were in the low GB range indicating that the first drive was seriously used when I got it. The prior owner must have been running benchmarks for days to get to 32TB reads/writes on the drive. TBW is rated at 600TB so I wasn't too concerned, but still.

So beware when you get your drive. I used HWINFO64 to find the total reads/writes for my drive. It's a great tool to have anyway and free so please check yours and give Amazon hell if you find you've got a used one. I don't blame WD at all for this issue.

Vielleicht ist dies momentan die einzige M.2-SSD, die an die Samsung-Modelle in Sachen Transferrate heran kommen kann. Bei mir kommt sie zwar nicht ganz auf die Werbeversprechen von 3400 MB/s lesend und 2800 MB/s schreibend, aber 3000 MB/s lesend und 2600 MB/s schreibend ist auch schon 'ne Hausnummer. Mehr wäre vielleicht in meinem Fall nur dann drin, wenn ich Slot1 benutzen würde und meinem Mainboard (ASUS ROG) noch das neueste BIOS verpasse.

In meinem Fall ist es so, dass in Slot1 (M.2-Anschluss) schon einen schnelle M.2-PCIe-NVMe-SSD von Samsung drin steckt. In Slot2 (das Mainboard hat zum Glück zwei dieser schnellen Anschlüsse) kommt jetzt die WD Black SSD zum Einsatz. Ich bin mega zufrieden. Ein Backup von Laufwerk C (ungepackt rund 65GB) auf die WD Black SSD dauert inklusive einer Komprimierung auf 34GB nahezu genau 1 Minuten. Echt der Wahnsinn. Das ist jetzt lediglich ein Anwendungsbeispiel für so eine M.2-PCIe-NVMe-SSD.

Info für die, die sich nicht so genau damit auskennen:
- M.2 = ist der Slot und die Bauart dieser Steckkarten-SSD
- PCIe = ist die Schnittstellentechnik (es gibt noch SATA, wo aber bei rund 550MB/s das Limit ist)
- NVMe = ist das bislang schnellste Übertragungsprotokoll

- M.2-Slot nimmt PCIe- und SATA-SSDs im "Mini-Steckkartenformat" auf (SATA ist halt langsamer)
- "2280" ist die Größenbezeichnung, wobei 80 = 80mm Länge bedeutet und 22 = 22mm Breite

Vorteile:
- bei PCIe- und SATA-SSDs dieser Bauart spart man sich das Stromkabel und das Datenkabel
- die Steckkarten-SSD wird direkt ins Mainboard gesteckt und mit einer Spezialschraube fixiert
- die spezielle Schraube zur Fixierung der M.2-SSD ist NICHT dabei; sollte beim Mainboard dabei sein
- SATA-SSDs dieser M.2-Bauart sind so schnell wie die normalen 2,5" SATA-SSDs
- SATA-SSDs dieser M.2-Bauart erkennt man an den zwei Kerben am Connector
- die viel schnelleren PCIe-SSDs haben nur eine Kerbe am Connector

Ich kann nur jedem raten, der über ein aktuelles Mainboard verfügt, das einen oder mehrere M.2-Slots hat, diese Technik auch zu nutzen. Sie sorgt mangels weiterer Verkabelungen für Ordnung im Rechnergehäuse und außerdem mit der richtigen SSD für ein super Tempo. Mein Windows-Rechner fährt in 10 Sekunden rauf. Allerdings wird dabei nicht von der WD Black SSD gebootet, sondern von M.2-SSD von Samsung. Aber in der Praxis nehmen sich die beiden nicht sonderlich viel.

Ich meine allerdings, dass die WD Black SSD mit 52°C schon etwas heißer wird, wenn sie mal große Pakete schreiben muss. Das macht dem Teil sicherlich nichts aus. Wer eine Heatpipe auf seinem Mainboard für den M.2-Slot besitzt, sollte die auch bei der WD Black montieren ... nur zur Sicherheit. Mein ASUS ROG Mainboard hat diese Heatpipe leider nur für den Slot1 und nicht für Slot2. Allerdings weht dort die Luft des Gehäuselüfters sehr günstig drüber.

Ich habe die WD Black hier in der BlackFriday/Cyberwoche gekauft, weshalb der Preis auch echt okay war. Hatte schon länger mal geschaut, wie sich die Preise für die 1TB-Modelle entwickeln und habe daher Ende 2018 zugeschlagen und es in keinster Weise bereut.

Ich kann die WD Black NVMe SSD 1 TB echt weiterempfehlen. Ist ein tolles Stück Technik, das in hochwertigeren PCs nicht fehlen sollte.
