Uhg you guys make me sick! I'm about to drop off the high score board, and I was the first one to post a score! WAHH!! I gotta play some more Galaga me-thinks. I need a day off to really try and push a score. I just got so much TV to catch up on now, it'll probably be a few days before I can play again. Keep the scores coming though!

I think you should just list everyone who participates. Then maybe keep a running tally of who places from 1-5. Maybe 1st place gets 10 points, 2 5 points, 3rd 3 points and so on. then you make a chart/standings. For the whole year? I dunno just thought of it this morning.

Can't count it because I have no idea what Funspot sets it to... But my best score ever. Had to share.

A very nice idea. I actually thought of this yesterday evening > making a chart and giving points to the participants.

This would even keep it more interesting in competing for hi-scores all year long!

Me and Han have been setting up the rules and layout of the Hi-Score Competition so he also has to agree.

So, here's my suggestion based on Rtkiii's post:

Points can be earned by competing in the monthly hi-score competition.

Place 1 - 10 points

Place 2 - 5 points

Place 3 - 3 points

Place 4 - 2 points

Place 5 - 1 points

Place 6... - 0 points

I already talked with Han about creating an "all time top scorers" - thread when May's Competition is over. Making a chart and awarding points is even better.

@ Han:

1) if you agree I think we should already add the above points to place 1 till 5 in May's Competition thread. When May's competition is over I will create an "all time top scorers" - thread and transport the final results from May's Competition thread. Every month I will keep it up to date when the monthly competition is over. This will create a nice leaderboard

2) Rtkiii is suggesting to list everyone's personal best score. This would mean creating a Hi-Score Table of more than 5 positions. I think this will perhaps motivate more to submit their hi-score. Also players who aren't able to compete with the top 5 scores. I'm up for that. A little more work but i think it would create an even better hi-score competition. In regard to "more work" > I have sent you a PM

3) Should perhaps every participant get 1 point for participating and listing a hi-score ? The allocation of the above points will then change a little.

Change of management. It wasn't the case before.

I also don't like it. But....: they check every hi-score and they're getting A LOT of hi-score sumbissions which they have to manually check for cheating and watch every video! It is at such a large scale that not getting paid implicates needing a lot of volunteers spending a lot of their free time checking everything.

So I kind of get it they ask something for a sumbission. The price rate however is far to steep.

Yeah I guess maybe $25 bucks for the high score, maybe. But you look at Galaga....my play time is probably like 10 minutes...so if I MAILED(ever hear of youtube?) a video off to them and they get paid $25 for 10 minutes...$160 an hour to watch scores. Obviously higher scores would take a little more time but even if it was 2 hours...someone is getting paid $12.50 an hour to watch TV? I saw the documentary...that gets that reviewer dude a lot of cat food LOL

I agree...go GAMEEX Comp! would be cool to somehow tell who wins the challenges without going to the forum posts. Like banners or medals that would go under our avatars. Or maybe some kind of listing for each users Highscore...I know that would be a some sort of DB needed...that pulled into GAMEX along with a rating system - I already opened that in the suggestion forum, the rating part. But either of those would take some work.

We could get our resident artist to make up some medals, then you can attach them to your signature. I think some modifications to the forum would be required to add the extra things like medals under the avatars. I like the idea though, more props. Maybe just a simple signature/avatar banner that says "Top High Score (month)(year)". Anyway, I'll work on updating those new high scores to the table.

@ClassicGMR - You sure you have that machine set on Very hard? It looks like a legit machine, and I'm weary of putting that score on the list if it's not legit. I mean, I'm sure you GOT that score, but did was it achieved using the rules? Just let me know ok?!

Updated OP with new high scores. Moved my score down to #6 but since this is all still in trial I thought i'd give it a chance and see how working with a top 10 might look. Thanks for the scores guys... keep it up!

bumped my high into 3rd place. I think I could break 70k...but screwed up on the 8th level.

Yeah I have been working a "2nd" shift of 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM from home. Which means I just need to be by my work laptop for that time. Good timing because then I play Galaga for about an hour a night and my wife keeps my daughter(2 years old) upstairs with her. Of course just as I get to level 8 and feeling good and I have two ships on screen and 1 additional life I hear...

"Daddy! come see me!" BOOM, 1 ship gone.

"Hold on, please..." BOOM 2nd ship. 1 life remaining.

"Naked baby"(she runs around buck naked before bath...shaking her booty. It's probably weird to a non-parent but it makes me laugh every time - We call it Naked Baby)

BOOM - GAME OVER - enter in score

Walk to stairs and she stands shaking her bottom...I laugh

I should find out tonight as my son has a baseball game that I have to miss because of work...Just don't know if my fingers can hold up...LOL.

Well I've been playing for a few hours and finally got a rhythm down. Still not as good as the top, but definitely doing better. It's on now guys!

Well I played for about an hour after lunch, then I took a break to watch some TV. Then I went right back into it. 3 quarters in and I got the 100k+ score. I didn't want to submit a new score till I hit that mark. My next mark is going to be 150k before I post, if I make it there. The TwinGalaxies site though has people in the BILLIONS, like over 5 billion in 1st place. I'm ways away from that.

Geesh I tried again tonight and I cannot et past my score...I was close once but messed up...damn! Nice Score!

It takes time. My dad suggested a strategy that TwinGalaxies doesn't say you can't use... If you're about to pass a stage and can afford the life, DIE ON PURPOSE. The game will start up your next life at an easier level. He said this for Centipede, but I tried it on Galaga today and it does seem to work. The icons stay on the screen saying you're on stage 8 or whatever, but the difficulty is a lot easier. For instance, when you get up in the levels, the "bugs" fly around the screen a lot faster.. when I died on purpose, they were much slower. Also, higher up in the levels when the "bugs" fly onto the screen prior to going into formation at the top, some drop down to try to kamikaze you.. if you die on purpose they stop doing that, for at least a level or 2. It could just be that I was lucky and shot those kamikaze ones before they started to drop though. But still, it's a good strategy to try.

I hate the Kamakziis! - I am trying to figure out that pattern but can't I'm still having fun but want to do better. Stupid competions! - I Love it!
