About the Business
If you are searching for "restaurants near me," you are likely to find one of the best hamburger restaurants in High Point, NC! Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is more than your traditional American hamburger restaurant. After your delicious dinner, make sure and try the freshly churned creamy desserts. The frozen custard desserts are richer, denser and creamier than ice cream and frozen yogurt. Freddy's is often voted best ice cream, best burger and best fries in Wichita and other locations. Make sure and let us know how our fast and cooked to order food stands up against other High Point restaurants.

Burgers are cooked on a flat top and delicious! They are on the salty side but they melt in your mouth. I'm not a fry person so I can't speak to them. Service is fast and accurate

I've seen Freddy's before driving by but I'm glad I stopped. Great smash burger! Fried cheese curds as a side was a pleasant surprise. Milk shake was smooth and creamy. I went through the drive thru so can't speak to inside but the exterior is well kept. Drive thru staff were pleasant and smiled. (A rarity these days). I'll make this a stop on my way home!

It had been several years since I gave Freddy's a try, and now that I have a much greater affinity for smashburgers, wanted to give them a look through a clean lens. There are several options popping up in the area for this style of burger, and I wanted to compare them to the others I tried.
In short, theirs is still my least favorite, and it's still the most expensive of the fast options. On this recent trip I got to try both a classic style smashburger and their patty melt. First, the good. I love the shoestring fries, and you get a lot of them. The spicy fry sauce for dipping goes great both on the fries and burgers. The shakes are still expensive, but very tasty.
The burgers themselves, and I'm not sure how, but on both burgers.. I had a really difficult time actually tasting the burger. It doesn't have a rich beefy flavor. The edges are lacy and look nice, but that signature "crusty brown beef" goodness just isn't hitting. In comparison to other places serving this style, it is definitely behind the curve.
I'm glad I gave them another shot, but it might be some time before I do again.Helpful 10Thanks 1Love this 6Oh no 0Jan 20, 2016Previous reviewFreddy's has the unfortunate distinction of trying to compete with Cook-Out for the hearts and wallets of triad area citizens and it is failing miserably.
Prices are high. Period. My first experience with the place was a $4 milkshake which was probably about 7 ounces and not particularly good. Cook Out beats the pants off it in this department.
Second experience some friends asked me there for a meal... so I agreed, and then wish I hadn't. Again, I spent $9 on a mediocre burger, fry, drink combination. There are too many good burger restaurants in this area for this kind of thing to fly. Take your money to Hops, Big Burger Spot, Porterhouse, Emma Key's, or hell... buy TWO people the same stuff at Cook Out. - Jul 9, 2023
This place is known for its steak burgers, but I just don't see the appeal. Really thin meat a bit on the salty side for my taste. Fries are way to small for me. Ordered the double patty melt. It was the least greasy melt I've ever had. That was good. However I didn't really taste any grilled onions and the Swiss cheese was not real Swiss cheese, more like processed.
The service was quick and friendly, the place was clean except the floors are super slippery. Like a layer of grease is on the floor. Watched a young man pull his date across the floor... it looked fun but certainly unsafe.
Just not my burger place.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I think y'all need some new supervisors and managers by far the worst service ever. Came there because my food was wrong and telling the person that, they cut me off and basically threw my order in my face. I won't be attending there again thank you never.

Everything was okay but the only thing that really threw me off was one of the managers or supervisors with a blondie. Just rubbed me the wrong way about her demeanor and tone. So i'm kind of debating if i want to come back or not, which i hate because the food is amazing nothing like it.

Tasty burgers! I love the shoe string fries, as well. They are great with the Freddy's sauce. Service is friendly and quick. The dinning room has plenty of seating and a nice open feel. This feels like a step above regular fast food. Need to try the custard next time!

Gotta admit, I came to Freddy's ignorant of what it was going to be. I didn't realize it was fast food, but having both my kids in tow and hungry, I decided to chance it rather than go somewhere else. The experience was predictably *sigh.*
The burger I got was okay. No different from Culver's, I'd say. The fries were fine too. My older daughter got the hot dog, which, like the fries, hard to mess that up. Not exactly the greatest hot dog, but edible enough to only take a few years off your life probably. My younger daughter got the "grilled cheese." I put it in quotes because it wasn't grilled and it wasn't exactly cheese. Basically was warm bread with American cheese that wasn't even melted. She didn't eat it, and I didn't either. My older daughter wanted to get dessert, but by then I'd decided I had enough. Place was dirty and sticky like your average McDonald's, and I decided I could waste my money elsewhere on dessert for them. Won't be back.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

We've been to several restaurants that would be randomly closed because they don't have enough workers. How sad is that? That is NOT the case at this Freddy's. They had plenty of friendly workers and EVERYONE stayed busy. When no one was at the counter to order, they were still a hive of activity. Whether they were cleaning, restocking, cooking etc.. no one stood around staring at their phone or chatting. The manager went next door and came back with 4 pizzas for his crew. They all had on masks so we couldn't see if they were smiling, but I would hope so. They kept working with anticipation of free pizza on their break.
So instead of, "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" I propose this question:
"Does the manager show his appreciation because they work hard or do they work hard because he shows his appreciation?"
Either way, it was a very nice thing to witness.
Now the food. We both got the double with cheese and Hubs added bacon. The combo includes a drink and their delicious, super skinny fries. Due to Covid, they no longer have the special Freddy's Sauce in a pump, but they do give you hermetically sealed pods which is actually nicer. The burgers are truly smashed so you get the crispy lace edges. We also got a chili cheese dog with onions. The beef hotdog was good and was longer than the bun. Sadly, only one side of the bun had been grilled, they needed more chili and they weren't hot enough to melt the cheese. In the future we'll stick with the burger and fries. I also got the vanilla frozen custard cone. Yum!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0
