Nice improvement rtkiii :)

Not to take the credit, but before I posted my tips your highest score on Level 4 was 22500. You have since been able to increase that up to 35950.

Not to take away your steam, but my highest score on level 4 was 44850. Make sure to kill as many enemies as you can with one apple, and get the bonus in the middle every chance you get to increase your score. I forgot to mention this before, but if you eat all eight of the cherries in a group at one time, not only do you get 50 points for each cherry, but you also get 500 bonus points. If you can run around and eat cherries at the end of the level with only one enemy left you can score more points. Just don't get killed trying to do it. ;)

Tempest yeah your tip about the rock did help out a lot. I knew about the cherry thing already and try to get the food in the middle. But I also started getting smarter on strategy as well the more I played. It is a great game...surprised I'd never played it before! :)

Speaking of clones, Yankee Do! is hilariously fun. When digging you move about 3 times as fast.

Anyways, I'm still new to this. Do we allow past high scores (if they're in accordance with the dip switch rules), or do only scores scored after the announcement of the competition count?

My all-time best is: 75,450

The best score I was able to get after reading this thread is: 70,650

Either way, I'm miles away from Tempest. What a champ.

We're all here to enjoy playing arcade games and we trust our hi-score members to use the correct game settings and play our games without continues or any cheats and hacks :)

You've uploaded a screenshot* of your all-time best score of 75,450 and I have no reason to believe it's not a valid score. I've updated the Mr. Do hi-score table with your hi-score !! Congrats with your second spot :)

...It may however be more fun to keep playing our games and not just upload past high scores...but that's just me ;)

GC is correct. While he is a little more lenient about allowing your score, I would be more strict and say previous scores don't count unless you've confirmed you're using the proper dip switches for complete fairness. I guess I'm just a bit over-protective or something. :)

...reading murve's reply I presumed he used the correct dip switches for his 75K score...but I may be mistaken...

I do agree with you and say previous scores only count unless he or she can 100% confirm the correct dip switches have been used.

Perhaps Murve could confirm he has been using the correct dip switch settings ?

Well he said his ALLTIME high was 75k, but after reading the thread (and seeing the dip requirements) his new high is 70k. But it's all good, I'm not gonna stress it.

I've send Murve a PM and asked him if he can confirm he has been using the correct settings with his 75k score ;)

Oh yea, my dip switches were correct for my top score, I would've said something specifically otherwise. But personally, I'm cool with allowing the score I got for the competition (70,650). For all you know I could've gotten the 75k score 4 years ago (I think it was last summer though), and I personally feel that logging scores from that long ago takes away from the competition. Of course, if all ya'll are posting all-time high scores, I will too :)

Since I'm moving into GameEx and ditching my old MAMEUI build, I'll be losing my savestates and highscores soon anyway (besides the old Williams games due to NVRAM), so it probably won't be an issue anymore.
