Aircraft rental and flight instruction are again available at Santa Ynez Airport, as SunWest Aviation has returned to service the area.
SunWest owner Alan Jones, who for three decades offered air taxi services at Santa Ynez Airport with two all-weather twin-engine Cessnas, has moved one of his Cessna 172s to the airport, a spokesman for the business said.
The 1979 four-seat model, with an upgraded IFR suite of instruments and a brand-new upgraded 180-horsepower engine, and a two-seat Cessna 152 will be available for instruction with two local longtime flight instructors, the spokesman said.
Yves Bajulaz and Mike Fountaine, both 10,000-hour professional pilots, will be available for basic instruction, introductory flights, sightseeing, recurrent training and upgrading pilot ratings with instrument add-ons.
A short checkout will allow rental privileges for qualified pilots, the spokesman said.
SunWest Aviation can be reached by calling 688-2437 or visiting www.flysunwest.com. Bajulaz can be reached by calling 688-0343 or visiting www.abcairsports.com. Fountaine can be reached at 450-8756 or mikefountaine@gmail.com.
