“GIRL, write YOUR book dammit.
Who cares what people think?

A beautiful heartbreak is a very enjoyable read I fell for the characters right off the bat they just had that quality I find very endearing and hope to see more of them in the future . This would be my second book read by Alora Kate and it has a semi lighter tone then A flaw so beautiful talk about a emotional driving story you should check it out while you are one clicking the first in a NYC series . As I said before really liked the characters especially the hero and heroine they are so unique in their own little quirks and as a couple they are so different but make since when they are mixed together , the way they KI and Prescott meet had me dying it's always awesome to read about a meet cute not knowing the end result and unable to look away . Ki is hilarious love her awkwardness and OCD the way she's not afraid to show that side of herself and just embrace it what you see is what you get . This is mainly in the heroines point of view but at times we get Prescotts and I really loved the fact that the author wrote those in and we got to see his way of thinking very drawn to him as a hero and to see the way he grew along with Ki . Can't wait to read Alexis and Tapper’s story and more by this author

This was an enjoyable story to read with a complex mix of characters with an engaging story.
Ki and Alexa are best friends both completely different but as close as sisters. I loved that their occupation was different than what we usually see and let me tell you there is nothing ordinary about these two. They are hilarious together, their witty banter back and forth made me giggle, it's something that only comes from a deep friendship.
Ki meets Prescott through her work, their initial meeting was kind of cute but you can feel the attraction them. The story is mainly told from Ki's perspective although we do get some of Prescott's thoughts but I wish we had heard more from him.
I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to book two.

This is the second book by Alora Kate that I have read and it’s another great 4.5 Stars!! I found it easy to get attached and fall in love with these characters. There are some tense and heartbreaking moments as well as some sweet, sexy, loveable and even funny scenes, with this oddly perfect couple.

Ki’s quirky, chatty a bit awkward at times. Prescot’s complicated, spends a lot of time inside his head and is very quiet on the outside. She’s a private investigator/process server and he’s a lawyer that yes, she serves not just once but twice. I enjoyed the story of their growing relationship from the beginning; the moment she stepped into his office through all of their struggles…I was looking forward to reading more.

There’s just so much to this story; there are twists and turns that have left me with some unanswered questions, not in a stressful cliffhanger way but in a curious, I want more information way. Like Lucas…..there has to be more to Lucas.

I’m looking forward to the next one, A Beautiful Acceptance. Her friend Alexa and Tapper’s POV, as well as more Ki and Prescot; it’s a win, win. I can’t wait to see how Alexa deals with her situation, it should be another good one. Alexa is funny and so determined….I have a feeling…..I’m already smiling….

I found this story compelling and I liked the characters Ki and Prescot. I loved reading from Prescot's POV. I think that Alora Kate has captured his truly unique thought process and it allows us to more clearly see why he hesitates and thinks through his answers before giving them. I also love that Ki is totally understanding from the beginning that Prescot dislikes speaking and she doesn't ever ask him to change.

This story is a nice paced wild ride and I can't wait to see what else is in store for these two. I would like to note that, although this story is in a series I didn't feel like the ending was in anyway a cliffhanger. It ends with a yearning for more but not crazy unanswered questions.

I hope you too enjoy A Beautiful Heartbreak.

Ki and Alexa were two best friend since college, with harsh background and opposite when it came to personalities and looks. They joined and opened a private investigation company, mostly tracking down cheating spouse. Apart from that, they're also process server.

On that very day when Alexa had to help her mom, Ki went alone to serve Prescot. She was mistook as his new secretary but, stayed on when he offered 1K for a few hours job which include organizing his calendar/planner and interrupted him when his soon-to-be ex-wife showed up. She did so good at her job, that he personally went looking for her to hand out her cheque.

Ki couldn't believe the amount of unreliable secretary sent to Prescot by an agency and decided to snoop around. And there, she found out that Prescot's soon-to-be ex-wife made a plan with the agency owner to screw Prescot so that she can cash in more money from the divorce. Ki, who was attracted to Preston, decided to interfere with that plan.

While all that was happening, Ki and Alexa took on a job trying to locate a missing son. Instead of finding him, he was the one who found Ki. And Ki was told to stay away from him while he also revealed that he was protecting her because he liked her.

From miles away, I could see a disaster about to happen when Ki got attracted to Lucas, the lost or maybe not lost and yet mysterious son. I did not blamed her because she was confused too. At least she managed to establish that Lucas liked her and that she liked Prescot. But, because Prescot did not showed any sign of liking her, so her feeling for Lucas started to accumulate into something else. Again, I did not blamed her. How could I when Lucas was all romantic and protective and mysterious.

I read on, thinking it will be a simple love story or love triangle but, I was wrong. There was mob boss, shooting, bone-marrow transplant, biological father, cheating spouse and some other stuff, making a simple love story became a bit complicated.

The book was told in two pov, Ki and Prescot. The thing I hated about Ki was her insecurities with her look and yes, it was repeated a few times in the book. The thing I hated about Prescot was, none. He was a genius, probably with an IQ above 200, and so his mind was complicated. Just reading his pov made me confused because his mind was a jumble of data. It's like he was processing a lot of thing at the same time. Compared to Ki and Alexa, his childhood was darker.

I was excited for the first half of the book but, got a bit bored when it got to second half because of the multiple other plot thrown in. I'm not invested enough to read about Alexa and this MMA guy but, if it meant more Ki and Prescot, why not.

A bit of ramble to start ya’ll with here….Alora comes up with interesting names for her characters. I mean look at the 4 seasons trilogy, then other characters in her books, Ashton, Rawson as well as Madi. To me, the name of a character adds a bit of strength to them. Now with Ki and Prescott, such beautiful and strong names that really reflect on them personally. I find myself wanting to give them a “couple” name like KiScott or PreKi! I know, I know….so typically weird. But not for me! So back to my review before I got distracted here……

As someone who never felt like I was seen for who I was, I identify with Ki in many ways. She’s a P.I. along with her best friend Alexa. She meets Prescott on a routine run to serve an envelope to someone. What she didn’t expect was to be thrown into Prescott’s world! In the heat of the moment he reaches out to her to pull her into helping him with a difficult person and an even more unfortunate moment. Even though she’s wary of helping in any way, she does and ends up feeling drawn to him on this charismatic level. She feels protective over him and needs to figure out a way to change the inevitable for him. The problem is, in all of that her life is turned upside down and sideways dramatically! Holy COW!

Prescott is a brilliant lawyer who has pulled himself out of the ashes of a traumatic time in his life. He’s been so focused on helping others and hiding the scars that have shamed him for so long. His mind works on a different level that nearly every person he encounters. He’s a brilliant man who just needs a bit of change. The day he meets Ki he was completely captured by her on not just a physical level but on a communicative level he’s never experienced. She’s not afraid of the way he speaks or even that he doesn’t show the emotion outwardly that he feels. For whatever reason Ki walked into his office, he feels drawn to her as well. What he doesn’t expect is how she’ll come to need him during the chaos that ensures.

Together, they have to learn how to live with their pasts. Even though Prescott has known all his life where he comes from and had to make terms with the way he has had to survive, Ki hasn’t. Her world is thrown into an out of control spin when she realizes that she’s in danger. Not only does she have to come to terms with the appearance of a parental figure, but also with the fact that someone is looking to make her the victim of a message. What’s that message? Who is this person? How does Prescott deal with the dramatic change that adds to his scars and way of life? Do they do this together or do they fall apart and lose their words in this beautiful heartbreak?

Once again, Alora has managed to yank out every single emotion, twist it up, and left me drained with a book-over (book hangover) once again! She’s accomplished her goal of making a reader cry each time she graces us with a new book. It’s seriously good and I love to see that she’s continuing the journey of the supporting characters in their own books soon! I can count on her to bring out all the feels and intensity of an incredible journey for her characters.

I can honestly say she’s proven yet again why she’s one of my favorite authors of all time. Thanks my friend for sharing the beautiful journey that Ki and Prescott have travelled.

A Beautiful Heartbreak is not your typical hearts and flowers romance, which was a pleasant surprise for me. The story is well-written and the flow is good. But, the thing that set this one apart is the characters. They are all so interesting - love them or hate them, they're interesting. Most of the story is told from Ki's point of view and I absolutely love her with her quirks and what you see is what you get attitude. We do get some chapters from Prescot's view and I don't want to give too much away, but those chapters are so important to the character development. His flashbacks certainly stir the emotions and pull at your heartstrings. The attraction between this pair is unmistakable, even when they won't admit it and the situations that they find themselves in are, at times, quite funny. While there are questions and some intense situations, I wouldn't necessarily say that it's suspenseful. Things were resolved and questions were answered a bit too quickly for any real build in the suspense level, but that didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the read. Overall, I would say that Alora Kate has given us an outside the box romance with some action, truly great characters, at times laugh out loud dialogue and situations, and a relatively low angst level. I'll be looking forward to whatever is next for this odd mix of people. Oh, and I have to add - Lucas, I seriously want more Lucas!

This book is just, amazing! Ki and Alexa are best friends who run their own business and live together. They make the perfect team and the banter back and forth is hilarious. Alexa is quite the character and Ki is her perfect opposite. Ki runs into Prescot because of business and is thrown into his world, forced to work for him for a few minutes. It'll make sense once you read. Ki is hilarious while dealing with Prescot and his not-so-better half.
Prescot is different. Different in the best way possible and oh so sexy. I love the way his mind works, how it's written makes it feel like you're in his head. The way Ki can read him you just know they're the perfect match. There's laughter, angst, tears will happen, and you'll be better because you read this story. Book 2 cannot come fast enough!
I just love the way Alora Kate writes her stories. The words just flow so well it's like a movie playing in your head. Once I started I couldn't put it down until I finished. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I have read a few books by Alora Kate and I have absolutely loved them! While a Beautiful Heartbreak is not what I am used to from Alora it is no less loved than the rest! Quirky Ki is probably one of my favorite characters and I think it's because I always love those characters that are a little goofy and just speak their mind because there is no other option to them.

I don't think I was a huge fan of the suspense plot line only because it felt like it was too important to take the backseat. I would have really liked for the "big suspenseful moment" (that is what I call it so I don't spoil anything for you guys lol) to get a more in depth story because it really was good.

I also really liked Prescot's character. I appreciate that he was a complex character that had a lot going on and simply needed someone to get on his level and understand him. I liked the pairing and I think that overall it was another good book from Alora Kate!

Wow! Every book I have read by Alora Kate is just better than the one before. This is definitely a case of the author improves with every new book. This new series is going to be a jaw dropper. I loved all the twists and turns that we follow along with Alexa and Ki. When Ki falls into Prescot's office to serve him it all begins a whirlwind, but she is in the middle of something she never expected. Something that will turn her world upside down. I have to say this story was amazing and the way Ki and Prescot didn't just give in. They both have demons to fight. Prescot's story made me weep. For such a strong man he was fighting some pretty horrible memories of his past. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and find out more about Alexa and Tapper.

i dont think ive ever read a book in which ive fell in love with the characters so quickly. Aloras writing captivates you, it pulls you so deeply into a story you do not want to put it down.
Ki and her best friend Alexa own their own Private Investigation business (great to see something a bit different) They are best friend's and the relationship between the two is brilliant, Ki's the plain jane Alexas the beauty they love each other like sisters.
When KI meets Prescott i dare you not to laugh! The interaction between the two is not only funny but you can feel the connection between them.
This is not just your normal straight forward love story, there are twists, theirs suspense and generally things you dont see coming.
I can not wait to get my hands on book 2!
Overall Alora has delivered a fantastic first book to the NYC series, and i would definately reccomend this. congratulations on a fantastic 5 star read

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I love Prescot. Fell in love with him the second i 'saw' him. Loved Ki too. The chemistry between her and Prescot was instant and only got stronger. Without going into too much detail about the book, there are other characters who step in to cause twists and turns that you dont see coming. When you think the story is going to go in one direction, nope, a twist pulls you in another.

There are a few unanswered questions that i have, more out of curiosity than anything else. The story does not end in a cliffhanger, i'm guessing those questions may be answered in the second book of the series - if not, its no big deal.

This book brings out all emotions. I was laughing out loud in parts, choking up in others. Fist pumping the air and biting my nails too. Everything a good book needs. I'm excited to dive into the second in the series. I would highly recommend.

This is the first book by this author I've ever read, and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. Alora's character development is well done, especially with the villains she created. While I would have loved more detail in their backgrounds to fill in some gaps, the bad guys, especially Prescot's abusive mother had me reeling. There were times I was actually audibly yelling at the book like the characters could actually hear me and that says something about this writer. She envelopes you into her world and keeps you engaged. I wish there had been more detail to fill in gaps and maybe this will be taken care of in future books in the series, but overall, I enjoyed this work very much and have put this series on my to read list.

Another amazing read from Alora Kate. I do love her writing, and her words. Ki and Alexa are perfect as friends, it like you have known them your whole life. Alora's characters and story are well developed and very well told. There is hilarious banter between characters, and you feel right at home. This story is told in dual pov, more from Ki's pov, but it is dual. Do yourself a favor and pick this book up soon as it's released.

So good!

It's all about the words! This was my first book by Alora Kate and won't be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful, engaging read. I love the characters; I love them so much I went ahead and preordered the next book in the series.

This story focuses on Ki and Prescot. These two meet by chance because of Ki's work, but they keep running into each other after that. I really loved Ki. She is relatable and normal, with a love of wine, frugality, and organization, but she also has body image issues. She has realistic reactions to events, and actually has a brain that she uses. Prescot is a proud lawyer and a man of few words, intelligent but coming from a bad childhood. He is endearing, despite his tendency to think in really short sentences when we saw his POV. It bugged me at times, but that's just me. What also bugged me was when Ki went through stages of thinking she wasn't beautiful or worth it in the beginning, but thankfully she has a really good friend who helped. She grew out of that and more. And together, these two bonded immediately, and liked one another. They got one another, and once decided that they would be together, there was nothing to stop them. They had amazing chemistry, and I really like them as a couple. I can see them growing old together since they actually talk to one another.

Overall I really loved this book! As I mentioned before, there were moments that I didn't love both of the main characters, but those were few. The mystery in the story was one I didn't see coming, although it certainly was convenient in moments. If you're only in it for the suspense and mystery, that aspect will probably turn you off, and plus the mystery isn't the main focus. It is there, but it all flows together with the plot, which is definitely there. I just really liked Ki, because she was normal, and she treated people right. She has a best friend (who is getting her own book next) who is great, but especially when it came to love, she didn't try to string along or hurt anyone, which I appreciated, as it meant that there was no real love triangle. You'll understand why I mention the love triangle thing if you read it, which I highly recommend you doing. The only bad part for some is that the ending is more of a Happy For Now, rather than HEA. More of them will pop in during the next book in the series, which will be nice. If you love a good romance, with some heat, good friendships, and a little suspense thrown in, this is perfect for you.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from Quill and Ink reviews. This is my honest and voluntary review of the book. I also bought the book because I loved it.

Ki Nicolson and her best friend Alexa own the company Two Girls Investigate where the usually serve people with court documents and also do a little of their own private investigating as well. When Ki does a job on her own and serves lawyer, Mr. Prescott Bale she has no idea how much her life will turn upside down.

After getting served by Ki, Prescott hires her to pretend to be his assistant in order to anger his "wife". Then when Ki is in need of a lawyer she turns to Prescott for help. The two are extremely attracted to each other and walk a fine line.

As Ki begins an investigation into a missing person she discovers that she is in a world of trouble that she couldn't imagine and soon Prescott is caught in the cross fire as well. Can Ki and Prescott figure out how they feel about each other before it's too late?

As I write the description of the book I see how confusing the book seems yet the way the author writes the book is beautiful and everything flows so well.

This book has quite a few twists and turns that I never saw coming and a couple that I did for sure.

I really liked Ki and how she worked hard to make sure her and Alexa were safe and had enough money to get by. I loved her little OCD tendencies - like with Prescott's calendar! I was definitely surprised with the twist with Ki's own life and how everything went from there.

I liked Prescott and it seemed like he was a good guy that kept getting the raw end of the deal. His marriage was not good and then the other couple of things that happen to him. Yet he persevered through it as he knew he cared for Ki and wanted to be with her.

The twists definitely kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next with Lucas and the person he brings into it.

Looking forward to seeing these characters again!

Book after book you find weak women who need a man to save them. You see women who, for whatever reason, are destined to seek out the help of a man because without one they seem incapable of doing anything. A Beautiful Heartbreak is not like all of those books. A Beautiful Heartbreak shows the strength, wherewithal, and determination of a woman. Ki depends on herself and her best friend Alexa. She is strong and independent yet at the same time has a softer more questioning nature to her.
She has a job to do as a process server and she and her business partner and friend Alexa are quite good at it. It isn’t until Ki goes to serve Prescot Bale that her life is flipped upside down. She finds herself desiring someone while he infuriates her. Another man in Ki’s life wants more from her than just a friendly business relationship. Ki finds herself in the enviable position of having a choice between two men who are more than appealing.
Throughout the story, Ki has to make decisions based on her career, friendship, and her heart’s desires. There are times where I found myself laughing and other times where I found myself relating to Ki on so many levels. To say I loved this book is an understatement. I want more. I want more Ki and more Prescot. Alora Kate is a gifted writer with the ability to create characters that are not only relatable and likable but characters that you can actually find yourself caring about; A Beautiful Heartbreak is no exception to that rule. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book, today. I’m sure you will love it as much as I do.

OMG I freakin' LOVED LOVED LOVED A Beautiful Heartbreak! Yeah, a bit dramatic, but see, since I devoured it in less that an hour, I'd say that it was deserved. Ki and her best friend have started their own business in New York City, and while they are growing, they still need money to keep afloat. But all of a sudden, despite Ki's OCD tendencies, her life is flipped upside down in spectacular fashion. Throw in two hot men, some dangerous stalkers, and the fun has really begun! And that's all that I'm coming off of, since this is romantic suspense to a degree. Anyway, Alora Kate really showed a huge talented writing style, with a huge side of original that I couldn't get enough of. Ki, and the two colorful men, were awesome together, not to mention provided some very funny well placed humorous moments. But don't worry, it doesn't stay a love triangle, and I'll never tell who she picks. And the colorful cast of secondaries gave big entertainment value, on top of some of the angst. I could go on and on all day, but it may give spoiler tidbits away. Know this, I CANNOT WAIT to read the next book in this new series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Let me start this review by saying that I cannot remember how I got an ARC copy of this book. I downloaded it a couple of months ago and it got buried deep in my queue. However, that may have been for the better. When I did read this, I was recovering from a bad day and a run of mediocre books and this book made it all better. What impressed me the most is how true the story stays to the characters. Told in dual POV, the chapters involving the male character, Preston, stayed true to his character. I do not want to give any spoilers so just read it and you will know what I mean. The author takes the romance trope of rich guy helps ugly duckling become a swan and turns it upside down. In this story, the presumed ugly duckling has a brain, a backbone, and gumption. The minor characters felt like real people and not just accessories.

It is the first book of The NYC series, and without having read the rest of the series I can say for sure, but I believe this one can be read as a stand-alone or as an introduction to the series.

What another great read from Alora Kate.

Meet Ki, a plain Jane with her own business which she runs with her best friend. This business brings her to meet Prescott. A high shot lawyer.

There is just something about the early connection between the two that has you hoping for more.

Along comes Lucas. Lucas seems to hold a torch for Ki and is quick to let her know. Ki is hired by Lucas' mum to find him. However, he doesn't want to be found and is everything all as it seems? What is he hiding and are his affections real?

In True Alora fashion there are numerous twists and turns. The story leaves youn with a number of unanswered questions and wanting to know more on certain topics.

Luckly there is another book in the series which may help bring some of the missing pieces together.

Hurry up and release it for me to read Alora.

A Beautiful Heartbreak is the first book in Alora Kate's newest series mixing romantic comedy with romantic suspense and made for a perfect Sunday afternoon read. Engaging from start to finish with an array of characters mixed with intrigue.

The story instantly grabbed me. Wrote with fluidity, easily combining the two genres perfectly! A colourful mix of characters that were, I felt so easily connectable that I felt I knew them. The intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat and the witty banter and one lines had me laughing out loud quite a few times.

I really enjoyed Ki and Prescotts story and would highly recommend to readers.

I can't wait to read the next instalment in the series.

On a personal note I want to start this review complete different. First I want to say Alora Kate has became my best friend into the book community for so many reasons. Alora Kate, has really improved on her writing and she knows how to pull a reader into her books and her books tends to play emotions onto the heart strings depends on which book you read. Each book in this series may
end up playing on your heart and honestly that is a good thing. Her writing is flawless.

You will end up meeting so many good and strong characters but the two that pulled me right from the start to the finish is KI and Prescot. I fell so hard for KI, He is like that perfect guy that is willing to give all of himself. KI stands up for what he believes in.
