Christening Candles: A Perfect Way To Shine Your Christening

Christening Candles: A Perfect Way To Shine Your Christening

Many children are still christened within their faith, usually within the first six months. This is a big occasion for all the family but especially for parents, grandparents and close relatives. The christening ritual is usually followed by a day of celebration that includes a family meal and an opportunity for photographs.

The christening itself is normally enacted in the local church and involved 'Godparents' making vows on behalf of the child until s/he is old enough to renew them for him/herself in confirmation.

Candles are Part of the Christening Ritual

A lighted candle is a common ritual in both these ceremonies and most parents like to personalise the candle for the baptism and reuse it again for the confirmation.

Christening candles look beautiful and are especially impactful, they make great keepsakes, especially if they are reused for renewing baptismal vows at confirmation.

Order Bespoke Items Early

As with all bespoke items allow time for the craftwork. Bring along a photo or any imagery you want on the candle, it can be scanned or emailed to the store. Many outlets have a selection of images and verses or you can add your own text such as...

  • The child's name
  • Date of ceremony
  • Ceremony location

Depending on the size of the candle you may be able to add the names of the parents and god-parents. These candles usually come wrapped in cellophane with ribbon, in a tissue lined box which can be used for safe storage afterwards.

Many outlets have a facility on their website where you can choose and design your own candle. Choose your own font style / colour and position your design to your own liking. A good rule of thumb when working online if you have any difficulties or you have any questions, is to give the store a call or email. They will usually revert with a solution very quickly.
