Ron Horner gets “Hands On” with a Cat D10

With the exception of the mighty D11 there is nothing else quite as spectacular in the Cat dozer line up as the D10 and our old mate Down Under, Ron Horner has got up close and personal with an example for another one of “Ronnie’s Road Trip Reviews”.

Ron Horner gets “Hands On” with a Cat D10
The Cat D10 first broke cover in 1977, when Caterpillar revealed its first High-Drive tractor to the world. But its development can be traced much further back, in fact back as far as 1969 engineers had been working on the concept and eventually came up with a prototype model in 1973. So, in 1977, the 700hp monster machine was shown to an eager audience of dealers at Caterpillar’s Peoria facility in Illinois. I’ve been fascinated by these giant Cat dozers ever since and its always a fantastic experience to be in their presence whenever I get the chance, as I did here back in the early days of this blog during a visit to Finning HQ in Cannock in 2008. So, in this video clip long term plant man Ron gives us an overview of the mighty Cat D10T model, enjoy!
