Saved my hand! Worth every cent!

Saved my hand! Worth every cent!
Saved my hand, worth every cent! I've used this for a few years now and it just saved my right hand from becoming hamburger meat. I was cutting a channel in some 3/4" poplar on my router table. On a second pass, to take a bit more wood off, the straight bit grabbed the wood, threw it across the garage, and the push block went right into the bit, hard! You can see from the photo that the push block got chewed up pretty good but the bit never made it through to my hand.Several days later I'm still a little shaken up about the fact that my hand would've looked like hamburger meat if I wasn't using this push block. I've always used one, and now I'm really glad I do!Ordering another one now. The old one still works but, at this price, why not get a new one? Invaluable tool.

Im frugel, and I hate spending money on something I can easily make in my shop. I am a maker, right? I resisted buying these for 10 years. I finally bought these 3 years ago and I regret not spending the money sooner. So easy to use, so useful, not just on my Joiner, but on my table saw as well. Great grip, easy to wipe down with a sprits of water and a dry shop towel or t shirt, and very grippy as new. Easy to control and not bulky or akward. Has a tilt that allows you to put presure either from right hand or left. I definately recommend.

I bought these through amazon.com because amazon.co.uk (although not the seller) wanted £35 plus for this so I bought 4 through amazon.com for 10$ each plus postage and import fees (why we have import fees is just a rip off). Anyway soon found out the timber has to be clean off dust, but once done worked well, made very sturdy and like the grip and the orange colour, although the colour has nothing to do with performance I like it better than that horrid mustard colour on some tools. Shame we get ripped off in the UK for American tools (Americans seems to have better gadgets than we do).

I bought the Bench Dog to use primarily with a table saw. I am not a professional craftsman, but I am a fairly accomplished amateur.

I was immediately impressed with the heft and feel of this tool. I have large hands and tools often feel like they don't fit me well. The grip portion of the bench dog is ergonomically perfect for me. I have only used it a couple times at this point, but it works great.

I already had a set of bench cookies, so I was familiar with the gripping surface. On the materials I have cut, the rubber surface provides excellent control. The gripping surface works best when it is relatively free of dust and dirt. My only complaint is that, for my purposes I also need a push stick or another bench dog. You may end up buying two of these if you are working with sheets of plywood or are working with other tools. I had to use a push stick to control the other side of my cut.

If you need something like this to keep your fingers out of harms way, I don't think you can go wrong with this push block. I gave this product a four star rating because I consider four stars to be very good. Five stars for me, is something that I am exceptionally pleased with.

After reviewing several options on Bench Dogs these appeared to be the best option for the money. After using several times I'm happy to have gone with these specific ones. I'm sure they will last forever and give you a good positive feeling of control on the piece as you push it through the machine. I use these on my table saw, router table and jointer.

This is my second pair of Bench Dogs push blocks. I really like them. They have some heft to them, with thick, sturdy plastic and a thick neoprene pad. They're a bit more expensive than generic push blocks, but they're much more substantial as well. I like how thick the handle is because I have fairly large hands.

All in all, there's no moving parts here, so it's hard to find any faults with them. The fit and finish is excellent. The plastic (something more rigid than your standard junky ABS) is stiff and hard. I think they're well worth $10.

You ever use a push block that feels as if it might slip? I've had that feeling before and it makes you uneasy knowing that if you did you might punch the spinning blade. This little block won't work for narrow pieces, but it has got a ton of grip and the handle is beefy enough to make you feel secure. I like the way the handle angles so that you can switch up grips and still give pressure while pressing into the fence and away from the blade. Would definitely recommend this product to others. I've been using it for rips and to cut grooves in long pieces.

The push pads that came with my jointer were not great. The grip was just not there and when face jointing, the boards wanted to wander and we all know how dangerous that is. So for less than 25 bucks you can get 2 of these. WHAT AN UPGRADE! Nice size, well built, angled handles and SUPERIOR grip. I can now face joint with total confidence. Your fingers are worth it...buy these.

i've been debating on wether or not to take the plunge on these for a while now because let's face it they aren't exactly cheap but after finally reaching the end of my tether with the clumsy plastic push stick that came with my table saw i gave in and purchased 2. okay so they have mixed reviews on here but i can only think that the negative comments are being mostly made by folk who just aint exercising their basic common sense tbh. they are a tool just like any other and as such they need to be taken care of properly. brush them off after use and don't allow them the grip to become caked in sawdust and they will continue to do their job perfectly. if you want precision in your cuts and you value your hands and fingers then these are pretty much invaluable to you and they're well worth every penny i'd say 👍
